This is literally why they have it as SOP, so marines can outrun MPs.

The slowdown can be applied to MP belts id cards hats I don’t care as long as we don’t have to wear the armor anymore

the marine then removed his armor, *warcry’d, and ran off
not only is the armor ugly as fuck, it also makes it harder or in some cases impossible for mps to actually do their job.
it is what it is, i guess, but the mp armor sop shit just feels like someone hated mps and slapped it in there with nobody looking and got the upside of making them look like hot ass too.
I find it funny that UPP Military Police are issued a MP jacket as standard issue, with armour as optional.
Seems the communists have it figured it.
Provost also wears jackets with armour in their bags.

Fun Fact: they actually have jackets, but you’ll never see them because of SOP.
As someone who has recently played quite a lot of the MP role, I personally believe that removing the armour requirement would be good, something like the IO vendors with the armour or jacket.
Also the MP jacket looks cool-- I’ll take looking cool at the cost of dying instantly any day.
erm mps have their hands held enough 
no one else can use their equipment (its a gun it just shoots pew pew stuns) and also i dont want them to be able to catch me easily
erm actually you can use pepperspray, baton, cuffs
MP armor should remain. The cat and mouse chase makes things interesting.
Alternatively, take it off anyways. Really no one cares, especially if you’re chasing someone wanted for a violent or capital crime
As someone who plays MP a lot, there are plenty of interesting situations where people get the advantage over me as an MP. I arrested CL once and he called a goon over, goon batonned and cuffed me, then CL implanted me with the ‘spoken word punishment’ thing and almost kidnapped me to the WY station - interesting. Someone got a lucky shove or two off and managed to tablestun and strip me (sometimes they use things stripped from me to get a further advantage) - interesting. Someone dragged me onto alamo and people stunned and stripped me - interesting. But people running away successfully due to a technicality speed advantage, leading to no RP between them - not really interesting to me personally 
With how easily MPs get noted or PR’d, this feels like a terrible idea, personally. All it takes is one smartass marine to scream ‘SOP breach’ and it’s joever for you.

Its a damned if you do, damned if you dont situation. On one hand its needed if like they are chasing a marine in light/no amour. On the other hand it needed to save your ass in a shootout or like any melee combat you get into. If you have you amour off and get to a situation where you needed it and or it could have saved you MPs might mald. The other thing being if you take it off anywhere you might lose it to anyone coming by and taking it and tossing it or anything.
One thing I would like to ask instead of a SOP change for this, why not re-balance the MP amour to just be reskinned/balanced M3 Light amour marines already can get? This also means giving it more or less the same stats as it. Or keep this current amour as is for MP and give them a reskinned M3 Light amour that marines have with the same stats, and MPs can pick which one they want.
Huh? MPs would have no reason to mald, because it would be their choice whether to wear armor or not, they only have themselves to blame if they don’t wear it and something bad happens.
Same thing as above really, the MPs would have to accept the risk of something like this happening if they chose to take it off.
The light armor thing would be an improvement but ultimately some people would still petition to be able to have no armor.
