Why would you like to join the CM-SS13 staff team?

  • I very much enjoy the server and the community.
  • I enjoy hosting fun events.
  • I especially enjoy making the overall game experience better for players.

What makes you a great addition to Staff? (Experienced Tabletop DM, Aliens Lore Buff, Super Organized, etc.?)

I am generally fun to interact with (even during rulebreak PMs) and I run cool events. Lots of people from years ago can attest to that. I’ve also nearly 20 years of experience as a DM, and I’ve written over 100,000 words of in-depth and extremely well-received lore for other projects.

In your opinion, what is the most important quality of a CM-SS13 staff member?

Being reasonable when possible and open for discussion if a player is upset with them.

Anything else you want to add?

My philosophy as an admin was to adhere to the “Rule of Fun” as much as possible. Meaning that while I do strive to uphold the server rules, I am willing to bend them somewhat so long as all parties involved are having fun and do not intrude on the RP of others.

While it’s evident that my last application was rejected despite my playing constantly for two weeks to get back into the groove of things, I hope that my playing constantly for six weeks is considered sufficient time now.

I don’t even know if I’m supposed to comment on these but Podrick has always been a stand up member of the community, one of the more rational voices on the staff team in ages past, and a tried and true fun-having warrior.

I’d like to withdraw this application.

My reasoning for this is threefold:

  1. I kept getting the vibe that the majority of staff members don’t want me around anymore (esp. from people I thought were my friends who shall remain nameless), which kinda hurt since I genuinely thought I was well-liked by staff and the community at large. Sorry to those who gave me +1s, I really do appreciate you guys.
  2. My primary hobby is being a writer for a hoi4 mod. Around one month ago, I was pulled into an “all hands on deck” situation with our yearly April Fool’s update, and I needed to crunch hard to write almost an entire nation by myself in the span of less than a month. At that time, I was starting to get the vibe mentioned in point 1, but from then on, I genuinely did not have time to continue playing CM.
  3. Now that the aforementioned crunch is over, I no longer have the desire to continue playing CM. Maybe that will change again in the future, but for now, I don’t see myself enjoying trying to hang out with people who seem to give me the cold shoulder.
