How are predators allowed to interact with survivors before marines drop? If I’m a xeno, and I see a lone survivor rping with a pred, can that pred stop me from hunting the survivor?

If yes, it means interacting with a pred gives free survival time to survivors, xenos are on a pretty tight timer to kill or cap survivors and having a predator shield you is a bit unfair to xenos.

From what I understand, unless the survivor is fighting the pred, the pred has no obligation, and is infact encuraged to let them fight for themselves.

And as for survs, they are per the rules a valid hunting target, but can cross lines with Spirit of the Whitelist.

Arguably survivors are the most valid of targets, ICly and OOCly. They shouldn’t be protected unless the Predator is actively hunting one in a 1v1, though. Bad bloods change this a bit, but bad bloods are in development hell, so….

If they’re actively Hunting them, HC would let them intervene.

If they’re just talking are they allowed to intervene if I lurker pounced or whatever?

Not really? They aren’t allowed to take sides, and the best they can do when they take a side in “protecting” their pray is stun the opposition, grab the prey and run. So if you start attacking some surv RP talking with a pred, the best he can do is defend himself from you if you attack him.

Examples of what they can do
  • Predators are allowed to hunt and kill survivors as long as the survivors are not actively fighting another hostile faction.
  • Predators can stalk and mock survivors
  • Predators can lure survivors away to hunt them
Examples of what they can not do
  • They can’t give gear to survivors
  • They can’t protect their prey if they are not currently fighting them
  • They shouldn’t attack anywhere survivors plan to hold off from xenos.

To sum it up, preds can hunt survs like they can hunt regular marines. However, they shouldn’t hunt a Corporate Liaison since most CL spawns start off with little armor and a weak pistol. Although they may hunt a PMC if they see them due to them being more robust then the average survivor spawn and more importantly, PMCs are able to defend themselves and have a real challange to killing them.

If you see a pred just talking to a survivor, you can leap and attack the survivor. The pred can only defend the survivor if they are currently fighting. Talking isn’t fighting and the pred will just silently watch you fight. You may even become the next target.

TLDR; Preds still obey SOTW and a lurker can pounce you while you try to RP with a pred. The pred shouldn’t do jack. A pred is not a safety shield.
