Predators should not be allowed to hunt greeno (research) abominations.

What Predators would really do to the Almayer…

Research makes 50 abominations
Doesn’t expect to be fucking obliterated for it in a pred round

If you have the shit to make aboms, in a pred round, you might have gotten a body or just really lucky with vials. But lets be honest it’s usually a body, which makes it only happen in pred rounds or very rng based sometimes outside of it if the stars align.

You’re intentionally baiting them if you do it in a pred round, you are making the height of heresy to piss them off, and you probably already saw them obliterate a chunk of research to get the body you used to make it in the first place.

You know ICly they want predator bodies, they want predator tech at this point.

You then make an ABOMINATION (hint is in the name) from the predator body.

What do you expect??

Just buff abominations to be at a King level if there is no cap on the amount of preds or rules that preds have to follow to hunt them, since a lot of the time its not just abom’s that get killed by preds in their hunt; the hive itself is also killed.

As a xeno you kinda have no choice but to follow Queen’s will and defend the abom so if preds can come in forces of 8-10 with heavy armory equipment and can go cloak with impunity then an Abom should be a threat worthy of said 10 predators.

Thats my only take on the abom situation.

This is the definition of fucking around and finding out.

Then why do we have a feature where you get to shoot yourself in the foot, and the foot of all your teammates? Sure you could go by lore or whatever, but its just an exuse for griefing queen/researcher players to do this shit and then grief their team.

lower the amount of max preds in a round to like 2-3 maybe 4 so its not an endless stream of invis hpcing walking tanks killing researchers half life style

also make their gear actual valuable loot pls thank you

You don’t make abominations to win, you make them to make the round interesting and funny (you just doomed the entire hive). Same thing with marines immediately taking pred gear shipside to cause havoc on the Almayer.

This game is as much a story generator as a TDM, part of the charm.

Isn’t it metagaming for people to know that abominations summon a deathsquad?

I would consider codifying that Xenomorphs are aware of the fact that attempting to create an abomination puts them at high risk of retaliation from other Predators. (assuming this is not already the case, but it would need to be more than a tiny blurb in the Abomination job profile)

Humans on the other hand, researchers have no in-character grounds to appreciate the major risk that goes in to creating an abomination.

Last time this was suggested - the answer was literally: “B-but pred rounds are so rare! We shouldn’t deprive preds of their rightful ability to HPC marines into oblivion!”

Also yes, I find it funny that marines, despite being humanoids with roughly the same hand structure, cannot figure out where tf is the trigger on pred weapons

I mean humans also should have no way to know how to make an abomination either considering how many hoops you have to jump through lmfao

How does one think…hmm yes mixing Thwei and Royal Plasma will give us a creature that is part of another creature we don’t know that exists. There’s no hint ingame either that you can do this, its all OOC knowledge lol

Aboms being King level would make it unfair for marines who have to fight it on account of mistakes made my a player from anther faction (i.e., the pred getting capped)
I think the issue is more that Pred vs xeno combat isn’t great in general, in a 1v1 you’re fighting something with enough armour and health to tank hits from the whole hive, but a ‘hive offensive’ just becomes screech whack a mole with predalian trying to roar to reveal cloaked preds and queen screeing to stun them. When you then add ranged weaponry into the mix it’s just miserable for all parties involved

@nimbus999 You are much more familiar with Xeno stats than I am. My current understanding of Abom lethality is that it is determined by the skill of the player selected to play it. I.E. a noob will be curb stomped but an experienced player will cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war with a mountain of marine skulls.

I assume based on your comments that raising Abombs to King level would allow the noobs to curb stomp marines? If that is the case I agree with your assessment.

Please tell me if I am incorrect as again xeno stats are foreign to me. Thank you in advance for taking time to answer my question.

how exactly are the pred reinforcements magically discovering an abom is created? the in game predator players aren’t just metacom’ing the whitelist to tell them IC information right?

also yeah if you don’t want to put in the hard work of playing normal pred rounds you proabably shouldn’t be able to just cherry pick the event stuff as a whitelist character. If you aren’t in game you should not be able to know that magic abom/event shit is going down, that way only the people who enjoy playing normal pred rounds will know it has happened.

@steelpoint is it normally allowed for people in game currently playing a character to quit whatever they’re doing to go join a ghost role? I’m pretty sure admins have gotten onto people for ghosting right before ERT rolls activate for a chance to join them

What happens is that there are quite a few whitelisted players who are either playing or ghosted, but who are not currently playing as a Predator.

But then when an abomination is born, these ghosted players will now join as a Predator to get a chance to go and hunt the abomination, since the honor code provides looser restrictions when it comes to this.

That is why it can seem that there is a endless stream of Predators appearing out of thin air when a abomination appears.

For what it is worth, it is disallowed to ping on the CM discord to announce that a abomination is born.

Generally abom has quite a strong kit for fighting marines and in principle its power scales with each marine killed. Unfortunately even if you contribute the majority of the damage to killing someone you have to be the one who delivers the killing blow. For example if an acid runner has tagged the marine in question the killing blow will often come from the constant acid damage and not a slash. This is why vamps often show up with higher than average kills in the end of round stats because headbite guarantees the killing blow on a crit target.
Abom thus rarely reaches its maximum potential and more often than not doesn’t see much action against marines anyway due to the incessant hordes of preds. Oftentimes (even with the new predalian tutorial) the abom player isn’t familiar with the abilities and needs some time to adjust anyway by which point they’ve already been whacked by the HPC/plasma rifle driveby.
All this being said, I don’t think there’s an issue with the predalian kit, it’s potentially very strong in a skilled players hands. The issue is the interaction with preds and the way pred vs xeno combat works. Oftentimes you won’t be seeing the predalien on the frontline fighting marines because the whole hive is in a death war against preds leaving marines free to do as they please. The dynamic of the round is derailed and fighting marines is a secondary concern; this is the real cost of obtaining a predalien, not its actual stats or abilities.

What a bunch of bullcrap.

Risk no reward. Risk is 10 predators wanting to kill greeno abom. What is the reward, hmmmm? Slightly stronger xeno? Singular greeno runner is a bigger reward than abom with zero risk.

Metagaming approved by synth councillor. How researchers are supposed to know that, hmmmm?

Huntable, but not dishonorable would be better.

How are researchers supposed to know that? Promoting metagaming aren’t we?

Cope thread vs chud preds.

The real solution to the problem of greeno abom.

Metagaming, hmmm? How researchers are supposed to know that?

How researchers are supposed to know that? Abomination is called “abomination” because it is a SS13 game where everything has a name.
IC researchers can’t watch the AvP movies, or read comics for context. Just disable making greeno aboms.

Nothing. There is nothing realistically to expect IC from that. Do they have ABOMINATION TO PREDATORS written in their genetic code, or something in plain english?

That should be the case, greeno abom is only a bonus, regular xeno hive also shouldn’t have to contest 10 honorless predators because they outrobusted one before.

Yes, but pred chuds otherwise have no excuse to murderbone. One would think that anyone could notice the pattern of a gorillion predators appearing when abom is created. They don’t want to RP, they don’t want to make rounds fun and engaging, they fucking want to murderbone and only whitelist leash keeps them from being a LRP grieffer.

Xenos already have omnipotent hivemind and are allowed to know everything any singular xeno potentialy ever experienced, one would assume that in whole xeno history before CM round, xenos did menage to get one and get slaugthered.

Like murderboners care. We can just jump trough multiple hoops of logic that researchers are supposed to deduce that predators will get very angry when you make abom.

Pred rounds are no longer that rare. Other than that, it is just a murderbone pred chud response.

Like that ever stopped anyone. There probably is right now atleast one unofficial/private pred discord channel where they ping eachother when abomb is spotted.

Instead of “putting faith” in pred players that they can do nothing bad, simply mechanicaly reduce ammount of pred to like 3-4.

How good are they against xenos though? Because we all can see pred chuds throwing around “risk vs reward”, but what is the reward of greeno abom fighting xenos vs greeno ravager doing the same, but without HPC up his ass 24/7?

Hey man, thanks for taking the time to respond in depth to my question. I appreciate that. Definitely something for me to think about and consider.

No offense but if your going to make an abomination. GO. ALL. OUT. Make an alpha abomination in one of the other containment chambers in secret. I see all this greenos abomination stuff and im like “weak sauce”. Unleash something truly terrifying if your already going mad scientist. your insane if your making abominations in the first place since your mixing what would be considered in RP as two unique and unknown substanceses.

LOL, during a pred round, you might see one, maybe two predators. There’ll be tons of pred rounds that simply passed you by because you didn’t realize they were there. Just because a young woy decapped you and you got to see the orbit menu had 7 preds, it doesnt mean anything because the average marine probably isnt going to have an interaction with them!

Easy fix.

Scale Abom strength based on currently active predators.

The more predators come to kill a Abom, the more powerful an Abom gets. So if you send 1-2 predators and quickly assassinate the Abom, its weak enough to die unless its robust or entire hive protects it.

But if you send 8-10 predators to kill it, you are facing a Raid Boss with near instant CD’s, 1500 + HP, etc.

Once all preds die or choose to end the hunt, the Abom loses its scaling strength but keeps any strength it gets from killing things.
