Given that the steam release is dropping soon, I figured we may as well show a little appreciation for the new and soon-to-be-new players that will arrive soon on CM.
I know we’ve all had our fair share of frustrating events with extremely bald players, like when a 0 hour LCPL SADAR decides to shoot a predator that’s been dead for a solid 3 seconds,
or even better, when a GROUP of newbies appear to heartwarmingly help out the hedgehog!
But you know, despite all the hardships, frustration and abject disappointment that comes from these adorable gasmask-toting, warhammer-LARPing, bare-helmeted lightless bastards, sometimes you can’t help but feel a little warm inside when you see a helpless newbie try their best.
This little guy had no clue what he was doing, but he sure loved following me in his noobtrap armour and gasmask! Just look at his little feet running around in the dark. He’s absolutely going to be the first person to become lurker food for so-called PVT Griefer mentor SID, but he’s got the spirit!
My recent favourite however, has got to be this cute little fucker who ran around quipping bible verses, which really just shows how much they actually read the forum guides and wiki (yes, I’m biased). You can’t help but play along with the heartmelting bastard. They’ve got a bright future ahead of them! (they’re going to end up QC banned within 5 weeks after crashing out by shooting up briefing)
What’re some memorable PVT experiences you’ve all got?

I’ll add more as I remember but recently promoted Private Hoffman who put down a Queen with his XM88, and has exclusively used the XM88 ever since, every time I see him. I’ve also seen Private Smith Yi-Wessen from the last clip, always super enthusiastic
I had a PVT on Solaris spend like half the round collecting every medkit, split, and bandage in the hospital and bring them back to the FOB so that I would never run out of supplies. While I’ll never end up using 90% of those kits, I really appreciated them trying. New marines are the best.
Private Smith Yi-Wesson kept asking me to pardon Aidel Curran, as he saved their life planet-side. The way they said it and supported Aidel were wholesome. God bless that man.
When I’m a ghost looking at the hive or wherever a bunch of caps are, whenever I see someone doing really good ‘capped RP’ - it’s usually a private. Thank you privates for making the game feel more real for anyone nearby (including ghosts) when you do that.
PVT Wesson is awesome, yeah. They probably check the forums once in a while given the Bible picksay is from the guide, I hope they see our love for them, even if they die horribly most of the time.
PVT Smalls is awesome too, they’re this little gremlin that took the mortar kit every round yesterday. Every time they grab the kit, they do this excitedly shakes the mortar box like it’s LEGO and tile dump everything on the floor, which cracks me up.
They don’t seem to be the typical Gen Alpha room temp IQ PVT, given they grasped what offsets were and what they could be used for after I showed them how to grab and input coordinates, so they seem promising! I wished I could’ve helped them with the mortar more, but I was too busy fragging my teammates. All I could do was watch as they tried to set up the mortar literally 1 screen from the frontline and become a bite-size snack for xenos, such is the life cycle of a PVT.
I shed a tear of joy when they threatened to drop a frag shell on someone they didn’t like over comms mere minutes after I told them that frag shells were useless unless you wanted to grief.
I was pretty tempted to make them fire an HE shell shipside…
PVT wendy smalls? i taught them how to play dcc and how to use some dropship equipment, he was a delight to teach and a very good rper. loves exploding xenos, oorah
PVT Wendy Smalls, had their mortar set up next to reactors on CC and when everyone fled I didn’t realize they were still at the top-right part of the map with the damn thing. Poor bastard got flanked by the queen it was brutal.

When I have to deal with griefers like @Hankie_Mcspankies (I hate this fucking username btw) on a daily basis, my only choice is to beg RFN mains for clips which is btw a very common practice so idk why ur judging me here man
Greatest moment I’ve seen from a PVT was one in Hybrisa, he was made aSL and pulled out of Weymart with his squad after a wipe and made it to the FOB. He had an M4RA with a IFF Scope on it, he had walk mode on and had no idea how to turn it off for about 30 minutes.
He then led his squad out of the FOB in a counter attack, and whilst on walk mode killed the Queen and pushed with the Marines straight into the caves from Weymart and into the Fake Sensor tower where he held out to the last man to distract the Xenos from killing more Marines.
It was the very first High Command Medal I’ve given someone and supply dropped it on his head. Bro killed the queen in walk mode…
