Command Actions:
When do you believe it’s appropriate to pardon a prisoner?
One must consider several factors when to pardon and when not to pardon; The severity of the crime, the situation and whether or not the person is remorseful of it. You can’t just shoot the QM for not being in uniform in req line and say sorry all the while expecting a Pardon. In some cases, perhaps if the situation calls for it, a pardon may be issued, however only in extreme circumstances of which I shall state examples below. One must be held accountable for their actions, otherwise the authority and value of Pardoning Marines will be redundant.
Give some examples of when you would or would not use pardon.
Bravo SL starts deconstructing chairs during briefing and is arrested by MPs for DTGP. Upon requesting an appeal, they request for a Pardon stating that the metals were necessary for building an impenetrable FOB groundside and that since they’re Bravo SL, their role as Squad Lead is too important for them to be Brig’d. I will not give them a Pardon, as shipside deconstruction was not authorized and Metal could’ve been provided by req at FOB. And the fact that they stated that they’re too important to be Brig’d shows signs of disregard of the authority of the MPs, the Command Staff and Marine Law.
SADAR accidentally fires a rocket during briefing and kills Marines. Upon being brig’d, they request an appeal to which I would attend to due to the severity of their crimes. They expressed remorse and stated that it was an accident, and that they would be more careful next time. I would not grant them a pardon, as they have already violated the Standard Operating Procedures of Equipment Handling Procedures. Not to mention that the SADAR requires a Marine to hold it with two hands to fire, so the credibility of their remorse is questionable.
Doctor shipside is caught doing drugs (Space Drugs) and is detained by the MPs. Under normal circumstances, the arrest is deserved as being in possession of contraband is a crime. However, hugged Marines are CASEVAC’d into the Almayer and assuming that they are the only doctor active, I would grant them a pardon and have them continue on with their duties under observation from MPs. This is one of those dire situations that I would grant someone a pardon as it may save the lives of the hugged Marines and prevent a shipside xeno killing the crew.
The GP accidentally bombs/strafes the frontline resulting in the death of multiple Marines. This results in a route and a FOB Siege occurs. MPs go in to arrest the GP immediately however given the situation; FOB is already under siege, Alamo is holding groundside, Marines needs to be CASEVAC’d and Reinforcements are waiting to be deployed. Not only is the GP an invaluable asset to have to provide Fire Support, but they are also the last dropship available to deploy Marines groundside and get the wounded back to the Almayer. I would pardon them due to their importance and the situation on hand. The fact that they didn’t mean to bomb the frontline should also be considered, as the Frontline is always shifting back and forth and may result in these types of accidents.
When do you believe it’s appropriate to use a Battlefield Execution?
Battlefield executions is a tool for maintaining cohesion in a unit. It is also used to ensure the safety of the Unit. A battlefield execution will be enacted when the safety of the Almayer, the Crew and the Operation is at risk and only when MPs are not able to deal address the problem immediately.
Outside of rp, LRP players are also viable for an Execution. What I mean by this is when players go out of their own way to hinder the progress of the game like welding doors, welder bombing the dropship and saying stuff that are generally not allowed in the game (slurs or hateful adjectives).
Give some examples of when you would or would not use Battlefield Execution.
Let’s say we’re in the middle of an Operation and the MST is holding a grand banquet with tons of food and drinks. Only problem is they spiced some of the drinks with toxins and now half of the crew is dying from poison. MPs traced the source back to the MST and they are promptly arrested. Not only would this be considered as sabotage but would be eligible for an execution. HOWEVER, considering that the MST is now under the custody of the CMP, this wouldn’t be grounds for a BATTLEFIELD Execution, but rather a shipside one instead.
A case on where Ren would use a BE would be in said scenarios;
A Marine walks into the command bubble in briefing room before the briefing starts and starts making fun of the command staff. I warn them to leave or else I’ll have them arrested. They disregard this and starts shoving me. In the case where no MPs are present, this would be grounds for a BE since they are actively preventing me from holding briefing hence hindering the progress of the operation.
While deployed on the ground I task a squad, let’s say Charlie, to hold a certain flank that is vulnerable to a flank by the Queen and her forces. The Charlie SL disregards the order and calls me an idiot saying that the spot had no entry for xenos to flank. I warn them of the consequences and that they need to secure that flank, however they still disregard the order. Unfortunately for them, the Queen and the hive forced their way into that flank by breaking the walls and flanks the Marines. Thankfully, the Marines managed to repel the flank and destroy the hive there due to them getting greedy with the kills. I would confront the Charlie SL regarding this. Despite them protesting that ‘we manage to kill them anyway so why bother’, I would still push through with the execution. Had that Flank succeeded, the Marine force would have been wiped. The Execution would also serve as an example of authority, and that the Marines should always adhere to the chain of command. Letting them off the hook would only leave a bad image on the Commanding Officer that may potentially undermine their authority.
