First off crates are not that scarce, second Materials needed to make electropack aren’t that scarce, the thing that is hard to find are Lathes needed to make the Electropacks. The biggest factor is that of time.
shocked crates are not “scarce” given time you could make prob over 20 of the sucker on lot of maps and even on smaller maps you could still make quite a few.
That’s not the point i am making. I outright said the issue is TIME. But one should not like act like time scarcity is the same thing as shocked Crates being scarce. The thing that is truly Scarce in the context is the Time not the things needed to make shocked crates.
You also have to keep in mind that you only need ONE crate. Availability / Necessary amount = the level of scarcity. You can make a rather large number of shocked crates but all you will really need is one or two. As such the time investment for a Necessary amount is only that of the initial hump of finding the Lathes and then transporting the crate to the needed location.
As most the time there is crate very near to a Lathe or is very near the holding spot. What’s more the amount of materials needed to make one electro pack can be quite readily found near the lathes.
Look i am not saying making shocked crate is simple matter but we can not act like its some how “scarce”. Shocked crates can be made every single round if only the surv wish to try, and marines can make shocked crates every round if they want to.
This is frankly the weirdest thing I’ve seen the forums errupt about. I’ve seen this 2 times in 2000 hours ffs. I still havent seen it used since this post was made, and from what search terms I tried in the discord, it was talked about during the round in question, and once 2 years ago. From memory theres like 1-2 videos of this even being used in LRC/CM-screenshots.
We really need to stop making things easier for xeno’s, I remember when shocked doors were amazing, but patch after patch killed them, BECAUSE people can’t just THINK.

Crusher charge deletes object’s they run in to.
boiler cloud for cover then melt.
Break nearby walls to get around.
The above is Generic advice that works for both doors and crates, I an’t used crates personally, but no we had to turn every xeno in to a dam Swiss army knife (Wall slashing for 90% of xeno’s was a dumb addition), I could think of more way to likely get around crates or completely beat them but I an’t saying that I an’t sure will work.

Are there even that many wall slashing xenoes? Only ones I can think of is Lurker, Rav, Crusher, Warrior, Queen, King, and certain prea strains. Meanwhile burrower, runner, drone, defender, sentinel, drone, spitter, carrier, hivelord, boiler cannot (this is just regular walls). The only non-T3/T4 xenos who can wall slash are lurkers and warriors.
Aye you got the list, but then if we add in aciding a wall, your pretty much left with just runner and defender who lack options., so a majority generally have a option of dealing with walls one way or another.
Hi hello can we not balance stuff on how niche or rare it is, amr for a time was balanced by how much ammo you would get, the only thing this changed was how long xenos were miserable for, despite being less of it, there are still people being affected in a not very engaging or negative way.
For these crates in particular, probably outright shouldnt be a thing, any other insane stun or 1 hit item is usually very telegraphed or can be checked for (tailhitting doors), its slop entirely used for playing the awesome game of “do you know this is in the game” where if they dont it just instantly round ends them, and if they do you need to bring over half the hive to deal with it (boring asf how can anyone justify this lmao)
Also for anyone saying one of the “work around” tactics like aciding it, please roll xeno high, go spitter and try to melt a manned cadeline and report back how that goes for you.

as realistic as “just tailstab every airlock bro” (gotta account for airlocks even in rooms with no lights because you can make the area look entirely unpowered apart from the airlocks)
Shocked crates are stupid. There is ZERO way in which it is communicated to the player that it’s shocked.
Ok, so no problem, shocked doors are the exact same, except you can tailstab them, receive a fractionally shorter stun, and determine that the door is shocked. The crates do not have that option. I am all for keeping shocked crates if the tailstab or some other mechanic which slightly punishes you but isn’t a death sentence is implemented (i.e. tailstab or using a different intent).

”It doesn’t happen often.”…. Ok and? So it should stay? Something that punishes the majority of the player-base what amounts to “skill issue” (not knowing better) should remain?

I am not even a xeno main but this is just mind-bogglingly broken. Boohoo, survs or fraggers have to put more effort into securing a kill than sprite-clicking a still xeno for a few seconds.
It is just bad game design as well. Punishing the player with zero information as to why regarding it is poor. Games should have a cause and effect relation regarding almost every aspect.
