This isn’t an admin complaint because I don’t think the issue lies with the admin but the rules,
the round was LV624, I had an HPR and a loadout entirely built around it, after a short bit of gameplay after deploying, I choose to rush into neuro gas to shake up and grab someone who got direct hit by it.
This resulted in me inhaling a bunch of gas and having to laydown, but inbetween me being knocked out and not (all while shaking and going in and out of consciousness and talking), someone managed to steal the HPR off my suitslot and replace it with an XM88. I didn’t know who it was because of the neuro effects having clouded my vision too much to realize it was happening til they were gone. The front had advanced significantly so I was just laying down in the back area where there was no present threat.
I ahelp about it because I assumed there would be finger prints on the weapon of the person who stole my gun off of me, and I eventually get told:
I figured per the rules “Griefing is the intent of one player wanting to cause grief or annoyance to other players or the server without a valid roleplay reason.” along with rule 3 The general behavioural expectations for members of the community. Unless explicitly stated these rules apply to all areas of the community. Don’t be a dick.
But apparently these don’t apply, this isn’t the first time I’ve had my weapon stolen off of me but usually its something I can just go back shipside for to get a new mk2 or that when I ahelped about it, the admin didnt treat it as an IC issue and resolved it, but apparently the rules arent clear enough for a consistent enforcement.
Thats why I think there needs to be a note in the rules that stealing another players weapon while there is no present threat isn’t okay.
In the future, just put a unique name on your gun and if someone does this to you, go around to every marine around you until you find it, and then beat the shit outta them
Meh shit happens, at times they need a gun with ammo cause they out or need that gun for the job at hand and all. Play smarter and try not to get messed where that happens to you, from my time here its not a very common issue. In the event this happened to me I yell " OK WHO TOOK MY GUN?" and the person who took it comes running back and hands it over and says sorry too. At times they think you dead or something. Not everyone take a medhud. Like someone eles also said label your gear too.
Its grief only if your like a spec or SG or the CO, people who have guns/gear for them to really only use, and its not given back and they know who took it and were asked too.
This is straight up never gonna happen for multiple OOC and IC reasons.
Is it a dick move? 100% But it’s a war zone and 95% of marines have zero clue if someone is dead pending a revive, perma, SSD, passed out due to blood loss or boiler gas. To you it might of been obvious that you were alive and simply dealing with neurotoxin effects and just needed a minute cause of the game mechanics. But Private Joe Blow with 16 hours might have no clue and thought you were out for the count. Or he might just not care and is regretting his weapon choice so he starts searching all downed marines for a new one. I mean anyone who takes a XM88 is majority of the time a newer player anyways.
It’s super annoying and I have had my armor, helmet, weapon, knife etc stolen off me while dead pending a revive, but it’s the nature of the battle. It’s not like marines are deploying without weapons and searching to steal a gun off a marine or something.
When you’re shaking violently on the ground from neuro and talking in gasps, they know you’re not dead. I don’t believe for a second they didn’t know I was dead. I also didn’t drop the gun, it got looted off my suit slot. Did y’all even read the post?
This isn’t for “looting a dead player” or “the situation got tight” since those are annoying but understandable, I feel like I got openly griefed by another player but our rules don’t cover it
Going to burst or ODing also cover shaking like that, sure you werent hugged but in that moument in time they did know? Also like I said before
This is the main example of it. A HPR and XM81 can be replace, spec gear for one cant be. At-least not without admin intervention.
Next time call out and ask for it back also?
If staff had to treat this as a rule break every time for every case, they might be bogged down. Something that I personal have handled IC by just calling out and asking for it back. Easy.
Also big thing, Intent. That can be hard and or easy to prove.
You pretend like I didn’t go around asking if people had seen it or that I wasn’t examining everyone I could. My loadout was based around it, all I had was a backup pistol.
If I just instantly gave up and ahelped I wouldn’t have bothered of making a forum post.
If y’all really think this is fine, why not just strip people on the Alamo when they’re not tabbed in every round and take everything they have then hide from them. It’s not fun for anyone
It’s so much worse when it’s a restricted weapon imo.
I feel like you should be able to put trackers on ur gun to disincentivize stealing of gun. Or any other code solution really, if it’s just out of the question for admins.
Imo it’s stupid as hell being the one punished so hard when teammates come crying with 0 gun after they lost it to young sentinel XX and then grief u, especially when they can easily just go to lz themselves.
But yeah, it’s all pretty unnecessary. Just don’t be lazy with labelling your gun.
Ya a dick move but still i will say its a IC issue its one thing to nab your stuff ship side and not in combat but if your in the thick of it its not that uncommon the one thing about this case is taking the gun out of your suit slot, thats a bit off.
Enforcement of this via admin-intervention would be hard to do. If you have not marked your gun with a tag, and if the gun is a common weapon, then unless you know exactly who has taken it, it would be almost impossible for us to find who took it unless we manually check every single Marine and manually check their guns variables to see if your fingerprints are on the gun. Doable, but extremely time consuming.
Enforcing this for Spec weapons is easy since only one of these weapons spawn in, enforcing it for a M41A is not practical.
My best suggestion is to make sure to tag your gun with the tagger, as others have written, its much easier to find a gun if you’ve written your name on it.
In this specific case, they put an xm88 on my back so the admin easily had access to know who did it via finger prints, in the post you can see they admit to knowing who did it and ‘ensured they werent griefing’, which I just dont understand how this can be considered not griefing without the rules failing to cover this
I don’t have issues with loosing weapons cos I stow it away when I am about to fall. If it’s an M2C or M56D and I get downed and it’s still setup, it’s easy to know if it’s melted or someone has it
