Your character name:

Randy ‘Contraband’ Pratt

Accused BYOND key:

unknown

Accused character name:

Grayson “L.E.” Hunt

What rule(s) were broken?:

Hostile Factions/Survivor

Description of the incident:

I rolled Corporate Liaison, sent a couple of faxes, gave the MST a Whiteguard contract, and shortly before hijack, Grayson, the CLF Survivor ran into my office, said “one sec” And ran back out of the office, blatantly ignoring and walking past the two doctors/researchers in the halls. He came back, and I was under the assumption that he wasn’t hostile due to him ignoring other personnel and not attacking them, I closed the office down and tried to say something, but before I had the chance to do anything, he said something first, a simple “Thanks” Before gunning me down, allowing me to die in my office, slowly hitting the unreviveable death timer, taking my ID and running for CIC, where he started a gunfight in which resulted the XO and one SO dying, with the third one being stuck in critical condition, shortly afterwards, the CMP and another MP killed the CLF, after which the marine forces started coming in, after which he was detained and hijack began.

To simplify this, I am under the belief that he violated the “consistently hostile” Rule, mostly ignoring the doctors and other personnel in the halls, which possibly resulted in other people believing the same as me, “He might be friendly, so lets let him roam”, Switching from friendly to hostile to be able to kill CIC and me

Evidence:

Couldn’t get any evidence due to how sudden this was, server logs might need to be pulled by other staff members.

Hi, I was one of the SOs in this round, and I’m inclined to agree with this report- the CLF had been peaceful/co-operative, to my knowledge, willingly recieved medical care.

He had given no indication of hostility towards anyone up until he perma’d the CL and preceeded to walk, without attacking anyone else directly to CIC where he killed me, and the XO. If he had been consistently hostile he would not have been able to do any of this.

Let me start off by saying this. I never took off my uniform and the groundside forces were well aware that I was hostile. When I did eventually die at comms from gunshot wounds i was shoved unceremoniously onto the Alamo with no supervision by a corpsman. My armor and gun were left on the dropship.

Because my uniform was so covered in blood they probably didn’t think to check that im CLF so to my surprise i was revived in an Almayer hospital. I did not have a gun or anything I could have USED to efficiently kill anyone. By this logic you are saying i was supposed to just start beating people up without a gun as soon as I see them.

Even after I was revived I had a rifle procured from upper maints but I stupidly dropped it somehow and only realized when I walked into the CLs office to kill them. I said “hold on” or something of that nature so I could grab the gun I had dropped and do what I wanted to do. So I didn’t have a gun until i came back to the CL office the second time.

I had very limited interaction with anyone besides a brief with the reviving doctors and you. My intention was not to disguise myself as friendly but I didn’t have a gun so I couldn’t have DONE MUCH.

I was consistently hostile but I didn’t CONSISTENTLY have a gun.

Edit: I was Grayson Hunt and I was cooperative only because I was literally dead until I got on the Almayer.

You don’t need a gun to be hostile, you can go on a stabbing spree with any sharp object (scalpel, bayonet, etc), explosives (if any) Or just brute fists, mostly everything you can get your hands on can be used to be hostile

But thats not exactly practical for killing people and my character would know this so i would naturally be kind of screwed without a gun.

Might be a fair point, but you can be hostile as you make your way to an actual weapon, and trust me, if you play it safe and smart, you can kill an unarmored shipside guy with a knife, since brute weapons can easily cause fractures (learnt this the hard way) They’ll get pain from walking with it, bleeding, and organ/Internal Bleeding, while yes, firearms are better (Duh) you shouldn’t be friendly during a search for a weapon, then become hostile when you get your hands on it

That may be but you also have to take into consideration that its best to arm up and then fight than to just stab people and get killed by an MT with a gun they aren’t allowed to have.

So, after some conversations with the other admin team.

It has become clear that in this instance, that Grayson was not -consistently- and -overtly- hostile to marines at all available opportunities. Whilst I cannot fault you for perhaps not wanting to try and beat people with your fists. You must be aware that this is a 2D game, where your actions are important, because when you are coated in blood, your uniform and armor don’t stand out. Exemplified by the fact that you ran into the CLs office without a weapon, realised this and said “Hold on” only to return a minute later to immediately kill him.

A CLF survivor if they wish to remain able to by-pass escalation, must be hostile in both words and actions. You can’t ask someone to “hold on a sec” just to come back and murder them wordlessly. It is no fun to have your round ended by a mute antag who was missed because of no MPs or people not right clicking on everyone to inspect.

In future, you need to remain hostile, this could merely be screaming on the radio that you are going to kill people as you try and find a weapon.

A note for rule 10 will be applied, please bare in mind this for future CLF rounds.

Resolved. Report accepted.
