  • I think specialists should get removed from the game
  • command should get buffed heavily
  • queen should get nerfed into a regular caste
  • surgery should be removed from the game, or make it so you can automate it entirely and just AFK
  • barricade doors and barbed wire should get removed or only usable for core FOB defense - barbed and entirely enclosed barricades ruin the game where fighting occurs and should only limit backliners / early rushes from accessing newbie bravo players and the dropship
  • shivas snowball should be removed from rotation or reverted to topleft + bottomright LZs

Usually, it’s just people speaking with absolute certainty while being completely ignorant about a topic. A difference in opinion is fine, but conflating issues without being able to agree on or address the core reasons they may exist is so silly to me. I try to make sure I say that I didn’t know something or that I learned something (often relearning something) because I have fumbled, and I will absolutely do it again in the future. I usually play ComTech or OrdinanceTech, and I have 250 hours or more on each, and I still ask the other OT mains questions, and I’ll be in gameplay help on the Discord. Be it mechanics, strategy, or a new additions to the game, getting additional perspectives is really insightful. Just the other day, I rolled SL because I needed the hours for SO, and it was the first time I had to cut the ID lock off of an APC. Never once had to do that shit as a Tech, it was stressful as hell. To address the thing I hate in CM at the moment (that aren’t bully MPs lol), I’ve meme’d it a little in after-round chats, and its CIC. In-game and out of game, those mfs can’t accept a loss. They can’t accept that Xeno can play well and win, and they look for fault with their own marines, no matter how insignificant, to cope. It’s absolutely not every CiC player, and I had a good time up there the other day when I did get my SO unlocked (very chill role, I recommend. Just wish I had the RP muscles that the entire room seemed to have on display that round), but god damn if it doesn’t come off as contempt. Most announcements are Queen, ,abcd Charge, OB, fallback, or other general info an SL could relay to their squad. I’m so glad that shit got encrypted, or it would’ve been the thing I hated most, with those also leaning passive-aggressive, redundant, and overused. Just play SL if you want to lead a squad.

Not a hot take, but cade spam and unfair fob sieges. It’s tedious for Xenos, and not particularly exciting for marines either.

Many fob locations in game are surrounded by massive patches of ground that cannot be weeded, making it impossible for proper pressure to be applied in a siege. The west LZs of both chances claim and 624 are the most egregious examples of this. In order to siege either fob, Xenos either need a major numbers advantage, or a very skilled boiler empowered by equally skilled siegers.

In a meta sense there isn’t actually any incentive whatsoever for marines to be aggressive due to their scaling power over time, and they have every mechanical incentive to turtle in fob at the first opportunity. As someone who has played A LOT of games, I can say that rewarding passive gameplay is almost never a good idea.

Most everyone experienced in CM as well as the devs are aware of this stuff, but I’d still say it’s probably the number one game design issue in my opinion since it has the highest consistent impact on round quality. I’d argue it’s mostly a mapping issue, and slightly a metal economy issue.

I overall like this game, but yes I do have a lot of problems with it, namely:

Xenomorph T2s and T3s being super fast bullet sponges, where killing one relies more on the xeno player to mess up rather than the marine skill level (unless a spec gets a lucky hit)

How insanely boring dropship pilot is, and no rework in sight

Research constantly getting nerfed, I hate botany slop SO MUCH AAAAAAAAAAAA

AP ammo being limited, lack of more ammo types (hopefully being added by thwomper ā€œsoonā€)

Hivelord wall spam

How insanely underpowered sentry guns are

Removal of fun little SS13 featues like dipping cigarettes into chemicals to smoke them or putting wire under grills to make them electrified

How boring barricades are, for both marines and xenos

Screech

Prae hook

Xeno stuns in-general

Trapper boiler

Weapons being able to be melted

Medkits require medical training to put into a backpack (why???)

How fast rounds go

NPC huggers being able to instantly teleport onto you

Lurkers

Hijack (it’s so fucking boring please let us have a chance to skip every once in a while PLEASE)

Also, claymore mines are borderline useless. Why they cost points to buy I’ll never know. They don’t do like ANY damage, don’t stun for long, and usually don’t kill on their own.

My main complaint is that Xenos should be a swarm/horde army designed to overwhelm the marines, but ironically in CM it’s the opposite. I’m fine with losing but if I’m gonna go down I want to be swarmed by like 20 xenos all kicking my shit in, not getting spam stunned by one Xenomorph and waiting to be captured. Ideally we should have a constantly swarm of AI lesser drones to fight and the xeno players to control to lead or be the figurehead of the swarm.

I also hate how every round is TDM. I want some OBJECTIVE BASED ROUNDS, or something else to fight for; like that one time people tested marines and xenos both fighting over plasma gas and both sides could build extractors to retrieve it. Just something to break up the standard ā€œungaball rush hive or die tryingā€ round.

Round delay slop. The last runner makeing everyone sit around for 5 minutes while they do a looney toons chase

FOB turrets have too long of battery, they are up after the first cadeline is down and it just makes round delay cause god turrets

Research from both sides. Gamble hell if your a researcher, and uncounterable death if your a xeno.

Queen should be able to limit how many of each t3 (if I see 4 praes 1 rav again I will implode)

devs/staff that dont like marines losing early (weed killer, super turrets, early game power by way of OT and other chem jank)

but also let them have the power to scale late without any agency from the opposing side (stims, flames, foxtrot)

these combined absolutely murder any sort of balanced macro and makes the game feel horrible to play as a xeno. no i dont care about winrates being balanced shut up

and to add to the above post. why in gods name was "xenos meta rush fob too quicklyā€ fixed by giving marines super mega death turrets on a 20-25 minute timer based on when the marines land that affects LITERALLY EVERY GAME

edit: tming/merging pr’s that we KNOW has a major bug/missing feature. if we know the pr doesnt work, why is it still on tm. take it off and fix it . bonus points if alleged bug isnt known but literally any amount of private testing would highlight the bug

I thought they looked pretty lore friendly though. Maybe you wanted the comic book version?

Anyway, I hate the fixation on speed in this game, and how much it starts to remind me of LoL with it. ESPECCIALLY the guys running around like construction workers in the front, taking away all my immersion (they need the bright orange vest and helmet because…)
