This is gonna be a tough pill to swallow for a lot of people but I love hijacks. Just the entire lifeboats/escape pods concept as well as ERT coming in to potentially save or fuck up the day and also provide an additional escape route is really a lot of fun. I can’t even count how many movie-like moments did I experience with escape pods and especially lifeboats.

Xenomorphs overtake the entire ship so you heroically drag your buddy to nearest pod and make it within a fraction of a second before runner lunges at you. Last second lifeboats escape mere seconds away before xenos make it in (bonus points if you trap queen in-between the airlocks)

I just love hijacks man. I’ve had so many unforgetable moments during hijacks

It just got old for me, and it requires a lot of suspension of disbelief/enshittening of ARES and the Almayer to work in this setting.

Anyway uuuuuuh things I like to justify this post uuuuuuuuuuuuh I think adding CN20 was cool and Multi-Z is pretty cool and the pine trees are pretty cool and I haven’t actually seen any of that oil rig stuff but it sounds like a cool vibe.

That’s not even unconventional, that’s normal loadout before the morrow nerf.

Edit:

You can try league.

The overall game loop is absolutely killer. This game is basically SQUAD (tactical squad based combat in an open map), but against Xenomorphs(arguably the coolest scifi monster out there). The micro mechanics are very present for both sides allowing major skill expression, and macro level decisions are also extremely impactful at both the NCO and CIC levels.

Every round presents the opportunity for wild plays on both a micro and macro level scale, on top of the fact that since this is an SS13 engine, RP and freedom of choice always allows for collaborative story telling to make it hit that much harder.

Everyone has their personal gripes about CM myself included, but I can tell you as someone who has played A LOT of different games that CM is one of the coolest and most unique games out there. You can’t get this stuff anywhere else, it doesn’t exist.

I have 1000 hours in the game and I have not even really played the other side. In cm you can learn something new everyday and that why it is so fun

I like a lot of the teamwork aspects of the game. Higher pop brawls where all the tools are on display at once and everyone’s doing everything they can to win on both sides. I like a lot of the roleplay I rarely take part in and learning peoples gimmicks. I think its cool that the games always evolving and that so many people are interested in making the game enjoyable for each other in different ways. The spirit is nice

Shooting shit with your squad is fun, plus for a free game CM is probably the best one I’ve ever played. There’s a lot to learn and master, and every round is slightly different.

only in the love cm thread would you get negative commentary

It’s a tough thing being the silent majority.

Real hijack lovers should rise up :raised_fist:

I really enjoy every aspect of this game from rifleman to corpsman to nurse to being a xeno. It feels so freeing to roleplay while fragging or doing mundane tasks.

Some particular favorites:

Pain crit screams from Marines I sufficiently coated in acid

Getting on top of a downed marine lowering the defender crest and robusting their skull into the ground bonus dopamine release from You hear [insert name here] skull crack followed by their light going out

Being a drone half health running from survivor getting a cheeky shove chance starter in around a corner the survivor is pushing from then getting the best two shove roll success this side of the universe oh that shoved down noise with the knowing you are gonna live and got a capture. Chefs kiss

[Insert Warden Praetorian heal saving Queen from imminent death meme] (bring back Warden)

Rifleman watching the flank with my M37 stunning a pouncing runner from the shadows then blasting it’s skull into oblivion during the ministun chefs kiss

Being a complete menace during mutiny events turning Crazylace into a cold blooded killer on the loose (where is Elena Gumpy when I need her)

Genuinely enjoy being an overbearing full of love xenomorph sister to the most angry bitch xenomorph sister who tells me to ā€œget away from herā€ feels divine

Dunno I’m so lucky to finally indulge in the community forums and try to make a little niche for myself to just be creative and have fun. Spinning cause the Marines see me and are like ā€œoh it’s BOP time to be goofyā€ makes my blackened xenomorph heart just feel so fuzzy. I could go on. This is a pretty decent account.

Great answer. Fantastic Answer.

There is no dopamine like killing 8 marines via hedge rav and bald SG.

Also warrior lunge into fling and capping is dopamine.

Mortar is also a dopamine injection, and so is HPR and MOU flechettes.

Playing Carrier:

Spending 20 minutes pre-drop setting up traps just to catch 10+ Marines feels awesome.
Having a marine chase you into a trap feels awesome.
Trapping on the frontline where a Marine doesn’t suspect you to be, and they step in your trap: awesome
Catching a SADAR or someone else important in a trap: awesome
Looking up the timers on NPC Huggers so you can use them in cool ways to leap at Marines: super cool
Playing Eggsac with an Oppressor for capmaxxing, awesome (and movielike!)
Tackling a Scout who ambushed you: cool (and awesome!)

I dont like hijacks BUT when i first started playing CM, I chose to be a doctor before timelocks were in the game. A giga bald and I was a doctor with 0 experience on a spacestation game. (this was also back when medbay used to be flooded with 20 marines at a time) and i learned the game that way. I didn’t know what the game was about or anything, i just knew it was really big on byond so i wanted to give it a try. Then all of a sudden after hours of learning how to be a doctor from the CMO, a sudden alarm goes off and the whole plane is shaking. WTF IS GOING ON? ā€œTHEY’RE COMINGā€ ā€œWHOS COMING?ā€ They run off. Eventually… WTF IS THAT as aliens overrun medbay.

So tldr i dont like hijack but good rp is always fun so I put up with it
