It’s literally just a weaker warrior but it can move fast and dash
Plus some of the people that are making threads about it seem to have been unfrozen from real life cryo

The man you pictured doesn’t know that warriors have either equal or better life steal then vamp. That’s fucking funny.
I feel like it’s not really that comparable, given warriors heal on every slash for 7-9% of their missing hp (500 total), which is variable but usually 20-25, unless you’re low (in which case you’re likely disengaging, not slashing). Vamps need to use flurry for 30 hp per target, and also can use headbite for 150 hp.
I’d say the healing for vamps has a higher ceiling, more adapted for attacking groups of marines, but more inconsistent and rewards experience (hence someone like OWL can lifesteal into oblivion), whereas warrior is more consistent but has a lower ceiling.
Warriors aren’t as good as vampires in frontline combat, so they’re probably just slashing & healing from whatever poor unga they just lunged anyways (kill all potential caps for sweet HP)
Regardless, I’d hardly call vampire balanced. Even OWL himself says it’s unbalanced rn, plus there’s consistent support for nerfs. Warrior is hardly as controversial as vampire, pointing to issues with the strain.
Get the pred WL and fight a vamp on weeds.
In Halo Reach there was an annoying discussion about the energy sword being better than the shotgun. The swipe essentially dashes you to whoever you targeted mechanically give an auto one-shot kill.
Anyway, this discussion was annoying for two reasons. Both of them being that the shotgun was just better than the sword. Sadly you had to have low ping and high reaction speed. See the shotgun could also one-shot the energy sword user if you time the shot right, killing both of you. In this scenario, the weapons are basically equal outside of the fact people with shotguns could pick up the ammo of the dead (the weird AliensVsHumans mode and infection) while the energy sword had a flat amount fixed to the weapon.
Except there was even more a better awesome thing they let you do because Bungie is based and loved skill. You could melee with any weapon and rebound an energy sword attack. You just had to time it right. This left you with like 20% real HP left BUT alive. And now in melee range to bonk the energy sword guy. If you knew how to time* it right, you can do this over and over. The sword user PHYSICALLY cannot kill you unless he swaps weapons or uses a grenade - making the sword DOGSHIT.
This is all to say I have terrible micro. But I can usually land skill shots because I’m good at predicting. On shivas the other night I walked to the fight in Botany and saw two Vamp Lurkers eating the asses of like 8 marines. Not a single flamer or shotgun in sight. So anyway I just stood on the side and when one of them charged I walked up and clicked on where I thought he would be and BLAM* he’s stunned and half HP and the marines shoot and kill him (RIP DUP). Can’t remember the name of the second one but I did the same. And again - can’t stress this enough - I have dogshit micro compared to the best marines on this server. It’s not even just lurkers, you can do predictive shots with warriors too. I remember once my XO was dead in his dorm (depressed and* taking an shower) and I went to get him. Turns out a warrior was in there off-weeds and killed him. He leapt from the bathroom at the same time I shot a mateba shot and he was stunned mid-lunge. Just mag dumped him after that and yoinked my naked XO off to a pod and defibbed him groundside.
Marines have plenty of tools to deal with xenos that they do not utilize on a round-to-round basis. Namely the point and click stun at 7 tiles. It’s a skill issue and bronze people will complain about game balance for which high-skill players pay the price in NERFs that further niche the castes so only high skill-cap people can play it. More one-tricks are bad for every game that has this same problem of classes, and I could go on.
Tl;dr buff Yorick and if you click on warriors they die.
I think thats the single best description of how to counter vamp I’ve seen an unga streak together yet - I’ll add on as someone who observes owl and pockets them
as an observer watching him play and fighting him as a marine (mostly to understand the lighting issue)
To add to the fourth point about Counters. Fire is objectively the most broken tool in the game.
It:
One of my greatest irks is how you can tell every PFC only plays PFC when they yell at you for flaming a ravager. Xeno players - especially ravagers - mald the fuck out that Ravager is supposed to counter fire, but ironically is itself entirely countered by fire. Why? Because it can’t heal AT ALL. Every single Serker rav turns into a slightly tankier - MUCH EASIER TO HIT - warrior the second you put fire on it.
Fun fact about fire, you still have natural regen as a Xeno when on fire, but you don’t get phero healing. You can test this by getting set on fire by hijack explosions, then resting on weeds. You heal faster then that fire kills you.
Most of the OWL vamp crazy clips that make their way to me (winning a 1v4 and such) are against people that look like fresh newbies where OWL just goes crazy and never stops fighting.
Either the marines just don’t shoot at OWL and he kills them in a minute or two,
or the marines shoot and somehow manage to FF each other to death.
The major difference I’d say between a prime warrior and a prime vamp is that the vamp can disengage and play it much safer than the warrior in a frontline or backline situation against groups of enemies.
If a warrior gets a grab on a marine and no one chases after it with a shotgun or mk2, that marine will die, no matter their skill level, which is why you see people taking shotguns with slugs or buckshot and sticking together so they can instantly delete a warrior’s grab on someone.
Compared to this, the vamp lurker doesn’t have to commit to the fight and can just fight from the edge, even if it gets hit with a slug it can rush away the moment it gets up to relative safety, though if you have the right positioning and equipment you can definitely still take it down with a flamer or with no armor/no weeds (due to the slowdown from being stunned).
I think the big contributor here is the fact Vamps are SO much faster than woyers, alot of the time you get to EASILY return fire to the woyer “feeling” like your getting to fight and not causing frustration even if you did affectively nothing to it, vamp is more spastic and can juke shots, and when your a marine whiffing that much it fosters alot more annoyance
How is Warrior the comparison here, what?
How often do you see Warriors fighting outnumbered in the marine backlines off weeds?
Last time I watched a Vampire rampage it was mostly successful because the user was going around killing Marine solos or duos.
Of course, solo or duo marines are going to die to a skilled T2 combat caste. In this case the xeno only died because they finally ran up against a Pyro Spec who could flame them down.
Getting 26 kill is impressive, but when I watch a clip and most of the Marines who are dying look like they can barely hold a M41A rifle, I’m left feeling less impressed.
I did this relatively often, and DP and other beasts would do similar acts.
You say off weeds, yet I read that OWL has dedicated support players which follow him around and hive cluster it up for him, which also DP uses to a lesser extent.
Warriors don’t do it as often as vampires. It’s too risky for a warrior to disengage safely due to their large size and slow speed, whereas vampires are much less-at risk when off weeds.
I’m not saying warriors are incapable of pushing off weeds, just that they’re relatively worse at it.
man they are really talking shit behind my back on the cm ss13 forums on god
SUCK MY BALLS VAMP IS CBT TO FIGHT
I don’t enjoy being capped by xenos but that does not mean we’re removing capping
Anyone who says they enjoy fighting a Vamp lurker is confirmed to be a xeno main, i mean just look at who voted.
Literally the xeno queen on her laptop, undeniable proof only xenos like fighting their friends.
Capping is fine, you get to be xeno outside of queue, so in reality both xenos and you get a reward, you get reward for being unskillfull enough to be capped and they get a reward for not having a killboner 24/7.
Unlike when Vampire Lurker (and sweaty Warriors) got your back, all to remove that one mechanic you don’t enjoy.
Ironic how they will let you be capped by a facehugger, but will slash you anyway for that juicy HP. After dragging you to some very remote corner of a map, mind you. Thus denying Hive a xeno, but also denying you a chance to play after burst time would be over.
It is not made with intention to win the round, or with intention to heal themselfs, it is made just to ruin your round as much as possible.
doesnt make it overpowered
