Whitelists arent meant for everyone and your app was subpar so it got declined plus you got a serious amount of good advice from the council so this rly just feels like a salt thread

Let’s be honest when we’re talking about what spawned this post, your Synth App got denied. It got denied because it was low-to-no effort and exceptionally clear that you spent near-zero time asking for help, guidance, or even looking at examples of what other applicants did right and wrong.
The Synth Senator (WHO IS A VOLUNTEER) gave you some honest and well-meaning feedback on your application, when they could have just as easily said “This isn’t good enough, denied.” So in response you type up a sarcastic, mean-spirited, ragebait post to accomplish what? It sounds to me like you’re complaining about a process being complicated and unclear when you made use of ZERO of the resources at your disposal.
- You could have asked about the length of a synth story or what type of answer is being sought after on the app in the #whitelist-app-help channel on discord. You didn’t.
- You could have reached out to the Synth Council, a group of people who have volunteered to answer any questions about the Synth WL and app process. You didn’t.
- You could have asked for advice from Whitelisted Synths or ANYBODY with a whitelist to get a better understanding of expectations. You didn’t.
- You could have asked for help learning roles or for steps to make your character more recognizable in discord, where 9/10 people are happy to help. You didn’t.
You’re even complaining about the community being unwelcoming and hostile? Do you not see the irony in saying that when you’ve posted THIS? Whitelist applications are more than just “Do you know how to do X, Y, and Z?” It’s a question of whether or not you’re a good egg, if you actually care to make a round better/more interesting, and if you can be trusted not to abuse others with your newfound playthings.
Go enjoy Final Fantasy if you’re going to be this much of a weirdo about not getting to play the funny robot role.

As a Registered Nurse you are professionally bound to your job, you’ve had to sink hundreds of hours of unpaid labour over the course of your degree, plus you’ve likely had to do even more unpaid community volunteer work (depending on country I suppose), plus you are paying your own money to not only support your degree, but to maintain your registration. Plus you have had to perform a MINIMUM amount of work every year PLUS additional training that you need to record and SHOW AS PROOF to maintain your registration. Plus, you are a REGISTERED Nurse ergo there is a massive backlog system that not only support you but holds you accountable for your actions, if you are hired to a clinic/ward/whatever they can rely on the fact you have maintained your registration as one facet of proof of competence.
But as some random player all you have is your word. The requirements for a Whitelist do not compare to any kind of real-world medical job.
No equilivance. Go back. Try again.

I think the point being missed isn’t me being a Nurse, it’s the time spent to become one, and the ??? hours you must spend being on camera for people to SEE you, let alone ‘sufficiently earn the role’ is vague. MY hours spent aren’t what I’m railing on, I only started playing earlier this month I think?
It is not used to support why I should be WL’d, but a comparison of sunk cost until an arbitrary, unknown figure is met, compared to me actually doing the job, with a defined window. Again, is video game, so everything can be made up…But when we’re on a large scale, it’s kinda deleterious to not have that SOLIDLY outlined, hence my ‘Vibes’ argument.

I cannot see any of the resources, to be fair. I’m newer to the community, and have been spending my time off playing this. I have no channels available in my discord, save for a handful, so I went to the forums to apply thinking ‘Okay, I just have to meet requirements, it’s likely hours in each department and not being a troll’.
My Synth app being denied started me looking into other WL posts, in CO/Pred/Synth to infer what I was missing…and I came to find people with MUCH higher hours and being known were being declined on ‘vibes’ and ‘this wasn’t satisfactory, and we gave no definitive guidelines, but you must meet this unseen requirement of story length, hours, and being visible’.

Oh, I can certainly understand the point of having some gatekeeping when the toys can make you an actual grief machine. However, the mechanics to infer you’re not a grief machine are, again, ‘Vibes’. I dunno who Shay was, I’ll have to maybe look?
I applied for Synth, didn’t understand some portions of the app, had no way to ask anyone about it short of amod’ing in game, so I applied because I’m…y’know. Competent. And I was hit with job application expectations, unaware and unprepared of what I was applying for. I’m not some random ass, being an ass, to be an ass; I’m frustrated that rules that weren’t outlined, and rules immaterial, are employed to govern whether or not I can play existential dread robot with a scalpel.

A little bit? I had no way to actually get advice on applying, as the channel to SEEK guidance isn’t on my discord. I certified, applied all my roles, etc. See post above on WHY I thought it was a simpler process.
I became frustrated, did some research, and became even more frustrated that the ‘good egg system’ isn’t based on actually knowing the person, or putting them on a watchlist…it’s how many times someone types +1, and how visible you are, when certainly not EVERYONE can see you. I certainly thought it was just an ordinary role you had to go through security to play, not some sort of…highly guarded prestige support role?

I mean looking at past apps seems like it’s common sense. That’s what I did and I got the synth WL like 2 months after joining with maybe 2 people even commenting on it

Again, I applied before being aware there was any formats I could peek, or advice I could seek. Then, finding out there was, I was pretty frustrated and searched through them, found other people with higher hours, good stories, etc, declined because of extremely minor things.

(I thought there was no way to see previous entries before applying, as you usually don’t want people copying each other’s work, but maybe that’s my 'tism speaking and assuming)

If you read prior apps before you apply like every denied app says contact a councilor or ask for help in the wlapphelp channel on the discord. What do you mean you weren’t aware and had no one to ask? Before I applied for synth back in 2021 i read like half of all the denied apps and every accepted app before I applied. Didn’t you look at other peoples prior apps?

I did, but I saw them AFTER. It was the initial response to me that made me go ‘wait a minute’ and go look, only to go back and notice I had none of the ‘guidance’ venues mentioned in these apps. I repeat that the channel does not exist on my discord, and I was unaware we could see each other’s apps, as it stands to reason you wouldn’t want everyone using the same syntax/rubric/etc.

Frustrated because the process isn’t clearly outlined, and I did not have the venues to perhaps run a first draft by someone, because the channels aren’t available to me, and they still aren’t after being discord confirmed*. Also, I can’t mald, only shed

I actually really, REALLY am not a fan of command. I CAN do SO, I just don’t…really…enjoy it? Its pretty easy to be overshadowed if XO is really active, another SO edges in on you, or Req just has earworms that shift – Which, my god, I could build a castle out of the squad crates I’ve asked to be loaded, only for them to be FOB dropped.
