What is your Synthetic’s Personality?

Jill is a workplace synthetic, designed to fit into any workforce seamlessly and not alert others to the fact that they are a Synthetic unit. They display emotions that any normal human would, those emotions such as love and pain are nearly absent.

How will they react to the different ranks of the USCM, what would they talk about in a one on one conversation? What are their interests? What is an advertisement logline that could be written for them?

They would address ranks as if they were Non-Enlisted, unless otherwise directed to. IE; Referring to the Captain as Captain, Major as Major or Lieutenant Colonel, etc.

Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you?

Being a synthetic is something that I have been interested in for a while, and have been trying to work towards. I have improved my skills in engineering to an extreme degree, as well as medical, as those are the two things that I see Synthetics most often doing along with Req Line work when needed.

What is your most memorable interaction with a synthetic?

Being saved from the frontline…

I’ll admit it, I was bald, and had the great idea of attacking a Warrior with buckshot, thinking I could stun it mid-lunge (Spoiler: It didn’t work) and I ended up getting flung into a wall, and shot by a marine with an HPR, resulting in me dying before I could be capped. Subsequently then being taken to the colony medical area, given surgery and revived. This was a while ago, so I do not remember the name, and this was when I was rather new and bald, and it helped me to realize that Warriors are the worst.

What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example.

Synthetics can perform combat in very limited scenarios, such as if they are a CLF or UPP Synthetic. They can also use a melee weapon to defend themselves and others if need-be, but they cannot chase or engage in combat. Further, Working-Joes are unable to engage in combat unless they are struck first.

Your appeal shows that you have a history of LRP actions, the day ban was applied based on escalation. What are you thoughts on being able to maintain an HRP role and do you have any synths willing to vouch for you?

I’m not going to get very into it, but I previously had a discussion with Forest, when they first noted me, and they told me that I was allowed to use the name John Stanley, and have Private as a nickname. That is all. I will not answer any other questions about it.

As for your second question, you can ask WL holders. I will not give any names.

No, I did not mean that. I am not going to make any names and make someone feel like they have to answer. If you would like to ask others, that is on you.

You are welcome to think of my behavior as you will, albeit I am very rarely in the discord, and mostly talk about PRs and the like, as well as things that have happened during rounds.

I am going to have to provide my critique below, and deliberate on it further after I am rested.

I will list them below.
My first part will be regarding the good things and what I like about your application.

The Good

I am very fond of the way your story is laid out. It looks nice on the eyes and helps accentuate the contents of the document, and shows clear signs of effort. The formatting, grammar, and word choice is also good.

The Bad

Personality

The personality, as it exists, is paper thin and rather hard to demonstrate. In your own words, they are designed to not alert others to the fact they are a synthetic unit, and that they display standard emotions of a human barring love and pain. Synthetics, while capable of emulating emotion and showing them, do not feel them - so that is fine, however as the entire basis of your personality it isn’t going to work out well. It’s difficult to express and in most cases you won’t be able to find much to talk about. It also, unfortunately, comes off as attempting to be more of a marine that is a synthetic than a synthetic that people know is a synthetic. My fear is that you are going to end up in situations unable to think of what to talk about because your synthetics ‘personality’ is primarily built around how they talk.

In your story your synthetic also does not demonstrate this or emotional range of a sort, even if that is a strange word to ascribe to a synthetic. They are primarily monotone and flat - and, while this is fine, and how I sometimes speak on my synthetic, it does not fit the personality you have listed or the slogan for it, even if it is a more professional and corporate delivery. If this is intended to show they can be serious, it would be preferable to have a moment of them being less serious.

Combat Answers

Your combat answer is very much lacking. The answer regarding Working Joes is wrong, and your answer is rather lacklustre concerning the other caveats that exist and partially contradictory; saying they can engage in self-defence but then saying they cannot engage in combat. I would suggest reading the Synthetic Programming and Guidelines page and coming up with a more encompassing answer than what is provided here.

Experience Answers

While I understand most people typically just type ‘Very Familiar’, it is a trend I would rather move away from. I am going to ask questions, and I would suggest you answer them for a more thorough preview of your capabilities - demonstrate before being asked questions, if you can, and provide relevant examples of what you know how to do.

  1. Three marines are tossed to you, as a synthetic, all three with 700 burn. One is yellowlining, and close to the threshold of redlining - with the other two sitting comfortably at a greenline. They are all currently on fire and have their armour on, with no other marines present to provide assistance. Assume you have all equipment available to you that you wish and you are working at a synthetics speed. What do you do to revive them.

  2. You have landed on Solaris Ridge, LZ1 and have roughly 150 metal on the FOB, with another 50 in your backpack that you have brought with you. Upon arrival, you see the following at the south and north respectively. What do you do, if anything, to attempt to fix it?

Regarding combat, I will read over it again. It has been a little while since I have. I should have done so before making this application and that was an oversight on my part.

As for the questions.

  1. Firstly, the one that is near red-lining. Epinephrine first, Graft the areas with the most damage and use kits on them to bring the damage down. Pre-Use KD on them, along with Inaproveline. Then defib them in order to reset the revive timer. If they still are above the damage threshold, I’d put them in a cryotube for a moment with Cloneaxedone in order to get the damage down as much as possible before defib spamming them with Epinephrine to try and get them revived. As for the other two that are green, put them both in Cryotubes in order to lower the damage, epinephrine, and then defib to get them back.

  2. For the barricades, the yellow lines would be where I add cades green for Folding/plasteel, and red for removal. Further, the arrows will point in the direction the cades would face. For any questions about why, I would be more than happy to answer. FOB FIXES - Album on Imgur

Wanted to slide in some legitimate feedback,

Echoing about personality, I think you should have a conversation in WL application help about fleshing it out. It doesn’t have to be magnificently complex but a lot of the point of the G2/3 appearance package is the entire stated personality. Common advice is to pick a character you enjoy from media, and give them a synthetic makeover for example Dale is based on Black Dynamite.

Once you got that done, showcasing it in a story can get refined and tuned up, making it a believable proposition we can see working in rounds.

Lastly, you do clearly have a lot of work to do with community work. Keep a clean record and don’t engage with drama or starting arguments and fights, and in a few months time past issues will become solidified as past issues. We have had people with bad reputations turn it around and it’s hard work, but they’ve done it by keeping on a clear path with a goal in mind and sticking to it. If synthetic is something you want, it’s going to be a long road but it’s possible if you keep on it.

Cryotubes do not heal dead people, for one - so you would not be able to place the two who are above the damage threshold in it. Cryoxadone also does not work as it is not thanometabolizing so you cannot use an external cooling source to bypass this restriction.

Your second answer is middling and while I do personally use singular plasteel cades I would recommend you link them and create a two wide entrance when possible to prevent congestion. Single tile entrances are killers. More importantly you did not pull back the innermost barricade line on the first image so it can be slashed from the corners, and the walls can simply be gone through once the external section is broken through.

The second image can be greatly improved by building a reverse L shape and moving the M56D rather than constructing another line behind it that although free of the issues of the forward one does not address it.

The fourth image is much the same where you can pull the barricade line back to force xenomorphs into a choke and provide more space for marines to shoot out of in a way that is ultimately safer by building an L shape.

I am curious as to your methodology as to why you would take the fixes you did, as the reasoning and thought behind why you build barricades a certain way is more important than what is actually built. I am also willing to provide photos and explain why they are more effective, although it is currently 4 AM for me.

My prior criticism still stands, however, and I am going to be giving this application a -1. I echo the same sentiment as Katskan, however, in that it is still possible for you to get the whitelist at some point in the future - although, it will take great effort.

I appreciate the feedback. I have limited experience with Cryotubes, as a vast majority of the time there is no need for them to be used shipside (At least I have never had to use them, other than the odd evac to just heal a small amount of damage).

For the reasoning of why I built those barricades the way I did, is mainly from my past experiences.

With the first image, the reason I made it that way is that the vast majority of times, Xenos attack from the hospital, which is to the right. By making those barricades into compartments, it allows for marines to fall back to the previous line, without losing nearly as much ground, which is helpful in all situations.

For the second, I chose to build a barricade behind for the same reason, and move the sentry further forward to add additional coverage.

For the fourth, once again I used the same mentality of making a back-up barricade. Usually if Xenos are attacking from the north, it is all of them attempting to make a flank after failing to attack the south. This would provide more coverage to slow them down.

All in all, when I am making barricades for the FOB I am usually thinking about making them in a way that will allow for a better Evac, because in my experience, most FOB sieges do not hold, and end in an Evac. |

I still appreciate the critisizm however, and hope to see you again in the future.

Fairly certain most people are aware of this but you posted what looked to be trans furry porn like what two months ago in last round chat along with a history of other such incidents ingame and out of game.

I haven’t seen you on much after the most recent incident in between now and then, it could just be me but it looks to me as if you left the community loop from then till now and came back applying for a synthetic WL, again could be a genuine mis-observation on my part since im only on a few hours a day but thats what i’ve seen. Im leaning on the side of a -1 just given the history you have and issues with OOC/IC toxicity but im not going to say as of now since it’d be good to get some other feedback here.

-1 you have a history of posting very inappropriate images in Discord and in game. Last time time was less than three months ago. On top of that you have a long history of LRP. Not saying you can’t change but take the time to improve.
