So, there’s a few things that need to be addressed here
First of all other than the breakfast gimmick, people can kindly stop prettending that charlie squad’s gameplay was any different to Alpha or Delta’s.
Charlie squad is not being removed and will still exist although as part of the support part of the new system.
Squad identities have for the most part died more than 5 years ago.
The only squad that is somewhat different is just bravo which has the stigma of always being deployed on FOB construction, and even then the bigger portion of the squad will be leaving to fight up front. In the case of Smartgunners or Specs it is -always- the case, which also raises the question of why does the FOB team need to take a specialist or smartgunner from the front team?
With that being said.
The “support” squads are in fact intended to be some of the more objective oriented squads in the game under this system. Typical assignments you can expect from command players will be for the initial part of the round, securing secondary objectives such as power or comms, clearing out the backline and for the latter part covering a flank or opening a flank tangent to the front/assault team.
In other words, you can expect the kind of activities where a more compact and better organized team would do well at.
If you wanted RP, you will get a lot more of it this way than being in a cave push with what will be considered the main assault component.
To boil it down, charlie squad is not being deleted, but as part of the support section, the kind of tasks you will get are going to be more objective focused and less so being just another color in the unga-ball mix.
You can still have breakfast.
You can still build an identity.
You can still do roleplay.
And you will be getting the kind of objectives that require you to work together, be organized and maintain cohesion, more so than when charlie was just another squad in the deathball in the ungamix.
It’s not the end of the world, just give it a new try with this in mind.
