Synthetic Info:

Name of the Synth Character you wish to play:

Waiko

What is your Synthetic’s Personality?

Waiko is deeply committed to uncovering the secrets that lie underneath. History and documentation of events is Waikos greatest passion and interest, Although he enjoys something a little different every now and then. Through jungles, Mountains, And swamps, Waiko will always find a way to uncover the past and bring the truth to light.

Waiko enjoys conversing about his work as well as his discoveries. It’s important knowledge is passed on. He’ll always be open to teaching someone something new, As little as it may be. He also has quite the charming personality.

How will they react to the different ranks of the USCM? What would they talk about in a one-on-one conversation? What are their interests? What is an advertisement logline that could be written for them?

Waiko will always address people by their preferred title or last name. It is important that people are given the respect they deserve in their field. Even to the lower ranks, he will persist in using their title or last name. In a one-on-one conversation, Waiko would love to talk about history and all of his discoveries, from the tiniest detail to the most grand. He is, however, open to talking about anything else.

Waikos interests heavily lay in the realms of history and documentation of said history.

The Waiko line of synthetic models is made in the image of the Ideal Explorer. Strong, smart, perceptive, and able to survive in any conditions. Through rain, mud, steep cliffs, deserts, and frozen wastelands, Waiko will be there to guide your expedition through it and even excel. Waiko benefits all types of explorers; from backwater archaeologists to historians, Waiko benefits everyone. Waiko comes with all the wilderness survival skills you will ever need in any scenario, in any condition. Every Waiko model comes pre-installed with history knowledge dating back centuries upon centuries, all from the Weyland University history archives.

Waiko, A Gift to History.

Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you?

Eight years ago I discovered CM at the age of eleven (yes, I’m not making that up), and I thought the idea of being a synth to be fun in my ultimate whimsy of being eleven. That same year, I tried to apply for Predator. I didn’t even complete the full application, and to this day is the most embarrassed I’ve ever been on the internet. Since that day, I’ve strived to try and become a synth. This has been roughly seven years of procrastination combined into a nice little bow. I think synth has the possibility to be the best RP role in the game, so I might as well try to make it the best RP I can give.

I should be whitelisted because I truly do want to enjoy synth and grow up into such an amazing role.

What is your most memorable interaction with a synthetic?

I don’t have the most memorable interaction with a synth, but I do have the most memorable moment I’ve seen. I was observing a synth one round on hybrisa. He had this massive pizza cutter and had a ring of Marines chanting around him, “DO IT. DO IT. DO IT. DO IT,” waiting for him to cut the pizza and say a little advertisement line from the pizza company. All the marines started warcrying when he finally did it. It was such a silly, cool little moment.

Later on, He brings the pizza van onboard the alamo and while its in transit, the alamos west door opens and a random human pizza driver gets in the van and proceeds to drive it out the door and into the vastness of space.

Synthetic Character Story:

Skills:

Engineering:

I am very familiar with engineering. Support roles are my favorites, so I naturally go towards medical and engineering. I know how to fix APCs, Comm Relays, Tanks, And APCs (ARC too). I know my way around making a FOB and cades generally anywhere and quickly. I do not know OT, as I don’t find it fun.

Command:

Very familiar. I know how to operate Overwatch consoles, TACMAP, Tech menu and the ARC. I know every console in the CIC.

Medical:

Extremely familiar. One of my favourites. I know every surgery, and I’m competent at chemistry. I’m very familiar with being a Corpsman. I’ve treated mass cases with people at 500 damage. I’ve done many triages. I am familiar with research as well.

Requisitions:

Quite familiar. I know the locations of items in each of the vendors at the attachment line, and I quite enjoy making supply drops.

What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example.

If you are in the backline alone or transporting an injured marine and an xeno attacks you, you may attack them until they are disabled or have disengaged. Assuming you have not already successfully disengaged. You may not chase. If you’re on the backline with a group of marines that aren’t doing so well and getting slaughtered, you may assist them.

During a mutiny, if you pick to side with command staff, you may non-lethally subdue mutineers that actively threaten the CO and his command staff.

If you’re on the frontlines, you may not do any combat whatsoever. You’re purely in a medical role. Self-preservation is number one, so don’t go for risky saves unless you know you can do it without extreme harm.

If a hostile faction boards the ship, you are able to chase and kill them as they are not protected under Marine Law. Common sense with self-preservation and saving people who you run across is of importance, as you can’t just chase Ivan while you pass the greatest mass of your life. Don’t chase the guy to the ends of the earth.

If you notice a marine murdering someone or a marine is actively attacking you with lethal weapons, you are permitted to non-lethalally subdue them and arrest them on-site. Context, however, matters.

During hijack or as a synth survivor until marines make first drop. You may chase and kill a threat but your self-preservation still comes first. You can choose not to help wounded people if it actively infringes on your self-preservation.

Corey is very competent in every skill required to be a synth. I have no doubts at all that he will make for a quality WL holder. I really enjoyed your story as well! +1

The story is interesting.

However, your synth has very little dialogue and what little there makes your synth seem rather lifeless, what little dialogue for the synth there is are all very short lines and doesn’t do a very good job at communicating a personality other than he has an archaeological interest, which it does very well.

I’d suggest giving your synth more to say in conversation other than calling out “Professor”

most helpful man in cm history, very dedicated roleplayer as well. Easiest +1 ever

Corey is a good player, he’s a mentor too. Never seen him doing surgery or working in any role that isn’t SEA so I can’t give advice on his effectiveness on those but that isn’t up to me to judge but rather the council. Although with recent app denials I’d say they’re pushing the gatekeeping a little bit too far.

great +1 for me

I would -1 him to keep Feddy imprisoned.
Would.
But for legal reasons I can’t. +1, this man’s one of our iconic mentors. Man needs to get to synthetic gaming (Also to Working Joe with me )

Really not a fan of the synth name tbh

The name actually comes from a historian.

John Dademo Waiko. He was the first Papua New Guinean to earn a PHD and was the first professor.

I recommend reading up on him actually. It’s quite a fun read.

That’s great and all but synth names are supposed to be common Anglo-Hebrew names like David, or names that are immediately obvious to English speakers on how to pronounce. Sakura is an example that works.

I could not find any mention of Anglo-Saxon naming conventions for synthetics neither in the CM13 synthetic name page (which simply bars the usage of canon synth models),

… nor in the xenopedia Colonial Marine synthetic page. (implying that Colonial Marine combat synthetics have stricter naming standards than market synthetics)

In fact, in the 2023 Aliens novel written by T.R. Napper, the synthetic attached to the marine company the characters revolved around, the Hardboiled, is Japanese in physical appearance, naming convention, and culture, as suggested by this bit in the first part, page 17 and 19, respectively:

Apone ran an iron assessing eye over the assembled. Up behind
him the synthetic Haruki, Sergeant Herick, and the Weyland-Yutani
worm, Walter Schwartz, all took up positions.

Karri’s eyes flicked over at the other synthetic, Haruki. Short, slight,
Japanese features. As usual, he gave nothing away. She’d come to
expect as much emotion from a marine android as you would from a
concrete wall. Before she’d joined, Karri had never met a synthetic.
Only big companies, the military, and the rich owned them, and
Karri was none of those. Until recently, anyway.

… not to mention all the CM13 synthetics who don’t respect this nonexistent convention of yours: Matthaus, Renault, Heinz, Artyom, Tyumi, Cerise - all names which are fine and way less intuitive to read than Waiko, a memorable nod to his synthetic’s anthropologist quirk.

Such a weird thing to make noise about. This application is fine and effort was put into it.

from the story, i think your synthetic is boring (in a good way), but I like that. it’d be fun to have more mellowed out robots than these happy-go-lucky synths who get all chatty. some like it, some don’t.

oocly i like you and think you’re great at support roles, so i have full confidence in your abilities.

if you try to shove history in my face i might actually grief you though +1
