Synthetic Info:

Name of the Synth Character you wish to play:

Hank

What is your Synthetic’s Personality?

Hank models are described as portraying a down to earth attitude when conversing with fellow Weyland Yutani couriers. Hank was programed to integrate and understand the working man’s woes so he portrays a demeanor like a grizzled truck driver.

How will they react to the different ranks of the USCM, what would they talk about in a one on one conversation? What are their interests? What is an advertisement logline that could be written for them?

With Hank’s experience with a company chain of command he knows how to act when around his higher ups and co-workers. On the job Hank could be seen with rolled up sleeves and joking around with his co-workers but in the presence of his directors he straightens his look and cleans himself almost looking brand new. When referring to higher ranking officers he will acknowledge them by their rank or just simply refer to them as boss or Sir. To the grunts Hank often uses common phrases like sonny, boy or lass and will always refer to colonists by Mr. or Ms. with their respected family name. Hank understands his position as a meager courier and is willing to do their duty to help the troops whether it be in monotones cargo work or frontlines support.

Hank models are specifically designed for logistical transport of colony cargo from point A to B often using colony trucks, trains, and other forms of transportation. Due to potential hazardous environments, Hank is built to work in where the average man dares not go. In short time is money and with the purchase of a Hank model your money is well spent.

Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you?

Personally, I thought it looked fun to play synth rp and game play wise. I would say I am good at rp and playing a character so I wanted to try and apply for a synth whitelist to see if I can play the part of the unliving automatons.

What is your most memorable interaction with a synthetic?

In recent memory I can remember two synth moments that changed my way at looking at synth.
1: I wanted pull a classic prank on CIC by blocking the briefing room podium with a Café vendor. Naturally to some this would seem like a dick move and just a NJP case for an MP. But a synthetic Eve replied “Oh how thoughtful of you Marshall! The Command Staff will not be hungry today.” Sure, it is but a small encounter but it changed my view of how a synthetic would perceive things, after all you are a machine.
2: About roughly 6 months ago I was a UPP dissident on Soro and we were holding the kitchen with roughly 2 other survivors and Malcom the synthetic. Considering we were just a small group of people outnumbered 3:1 someone convinced Malcom to negotiate with the xenomorphs to let us go because “we aren’t apart of the metal hive.” Possibly because it was low pop or the Queen wanted to have a laugh, we were given a pass to leave the colony and survive; I even shared a handshake with a Prime Lurker (HRP is real).

Synthetic Character Story:

This story is more or less some background of Hank:

This story is Hank’s interaction with another marine on a long drive:

Skills:

Engineering:

I have a basic understanding of cadeline theory, although I must admit that I am not a savant when it comes to cades. When constructing FOB cades I ensure to have at least two layers of cades incorporating a minimum of 2 doors of plasteel/folding cades in the wall. For frontline cades, I position them near choke points and include ample space for potential congestion, whether it is for a retreat from a queen or a forward charge. Apart from that, I am experienced in general repairs, replacing APCS, setting up a SMES, conducting comms repair, and fixing sensor towers. Regarding vehicle repair I am familiar with fixing colony vans and vehicle part repair although I have never had the opportunity to play VC.

Command:

Command is probably my least played department. I have some experience as SO and know how to use the tools on the overwatch console and the other gizmos that lie in CIC. I know how to update tacmaps, send and coordinate forward supply drops, and relay information to SL’s or aSL’s about current events and orders.

Medical:

I have memorized most of the common chem mixes and I can fill a full tank of UNGA within under a minute given the ping overlords are on my side. Surgery is the most fun thing I do in medical, and I am a savant in ghetto surgery. I find It more convenient using ghetto tools to avoid the hassle of searching for specific tools in the surgical tray (m5 bayonet my beloved).

Requisitions:

I would say this the department I am most proficient in. I have done multiple rounds as solo QM/RO and gotten so familiar with the req vendors I often man both req lines simultaneously at the beginning of the shift. During a typical round, I make it a point to have at least one frontline and one FOB crate prepared before the marines leave. Additionally, I try to keep a minimum budget of 10k in case of emergencies or the XO or acting commander needs anything ASAP.

What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example.

My interpretation of the phrase “Seeking peace but prepared for war” essentially means that a synthetic’s main priority is to support the marines and only engage in combat to ensure self-perseveration. Under no circumstances should a synth be actively seeking combat because it would conflict with self-preservation. The only exceptions to this rule are if Code Delta was activated or the synthetic was made for combat such as a CLF or hostile UPP synthetic.

Combat Examples:
While escorting some marines to the frontline a marine gets grabbed by a warrior and dragged into the dark. In this case I would help pick the marine back up or fireman carry them to safety if they fell into critical condition. After I grab the marine, I would retreat to a secure location where I or qualified personnel can provide medical aid.

When on the frontline a synth’s duty is to tend to marines and never engage in combat. Their priority should be on building defenses or tending to wounded marines should the respective rolls be needed. The only exception for a synth to engage in combat Is if the synthetic is being attacked. If attacked, the synthetic can then harm the threat until it is either disabled, subdued, or ran away.

When encountering hostile factions such as CLF or hostile ERT, a synth is allowed to kill the threats to an extent. This liberty does not warrant terminator like behavior and hunting for kills. Just because you can kill the CLF/Hostile ERT doesn’t mean you suddenly turn into a combat synth. A synthetics self-preservation regardless of the circumstances is its top priority.

Final Info:

Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason? Do you have any active jobbans?

No

Are you currently banned from our Discord?

No

Let us know why you were discord banned.

N/A

Do you have anything else you would like to include about your application?

In short, I just wanted to make a synthetic truck driver who embodies the soul of a West Virginian 18-wheeler tucker smoking on Marlboros. I also wanted to include a screencap of my playtimes in case a council member is unavailable to observe me. Hopefully the second tries the charm.

Here are my current marine playtimes.

I’ve seen you around more on Delta as a comtech and you always do good work on the frontline and even when we’re backlining. I still remember how memorable you are in RP interactions during shipside roles. +1

Still a big +1 from me, I know you’ve been grinding out that engineering knowledge.

Big +1, like smelllyhippie I’ve seen him putting in the work as an engineer and he’s one of the doctors that I can trust given the current state of medbay

Dropping by again to say I have seen Henry Marshall in requisitions/medical/engineering roles and they knew what they were doing with solid roleplay. +1

I will give you some personal advice based on your last application however. Anytime someone puts up a whitelist application of any kind they are automatically put on radar. Long time players, staff and most importantly councillors will observe you on and off constantly. Consider yourself under a microscope every single round you play, similar to how an actual synth player would be.

Try and focus on playing exclusively high roleplay and dedicated support roles such as Chief Medical Officer, Quarter Master, Squad Engineer, etc… rather than playing fodder roles such as Specialist, Survivor, Rifleman, etc… You can be the best medical/engineering player on the server but if a council member only observes you playing rifleman/spec they’re not really going to care. You might play 5 doctor rounds inarow and then decide to relax with some rifleman but that might be the only round a council member finally gets to observing you.

While your application is up, people will be expecting you to be playing support roles and more or less advertising yourself to be a strong mechanics player. No one really cares if you’re a robust combat player, that’s not what the whitelist is about. People will also be heavily judging your roleplay, what you say/attitude and how you treat the rules of the server. Be as active as possible and try and dedicate yourself to playing nothing but support roles during the next few weeks. Best of luck.

I haven’t really talked to them at length but I have seen them often and can certainly attest to their engineering and req knowledge.

+1 in that regard.

I thought I’d given this guy my +1.

This is an excellent player who plays a shit ton of survivor. Any time I see him in any auxiliary capacity he excels at it, both medical and engineering wise. He roleplays well and is a good player. I don’t see a reason why he shouldn’t be able to get this one.

+1, All the time I’ve seen Henry, he’s either playing surivor, comtech, or medical roles.

Henry is, a level headed player (at least when i’ve seen him play) and im sure competency or community image isnt an issue, for the points made above.

Hey Fellowsinspess and thanks for your interest in the Synthetic Whitelist!

The personality for Hank and the way he interacts with his colleagues was thoughtful and well demonstrated by the story. Speaking of which, the first story was good and conveyed a nice understanding of the CM universe while showing your worldbuilding skills. Second story was decent but lacked the polish of the first one, it also had some minor punctuation errors. I should also note here that generally Synthetics won’t have glowing eyes unless they’re of the Generation 1 variety or have some special circumstances or functions.

Your memorable interaction was awesome! Props to Eve for having such a good sense of humor.

Experience answers were nicely elaborated and gave a good understanding as to where you are and how you felt on the respective areas that a Synthetic may be required to operate and assist in.

Combat answers were pretty good, the first one was basically the only ‘scenario’ example - the others are more akin to just descriptors of combat. That being said, nothing you said here was inaccurate and it all does demonstrate your understanding of Synthetic programming.

Both community and Synthetic vouches were in high support of you, from competency to RP capabilities. This was a great sign to see.

In the Council’s own observations, we found that you were competent in medical and capable of high stress situations. However, we didn’t see much RP when observing you. There was also some behavior such as aggressively fighting and dying over a single body near the front, or selling chemical mixes at a makeshift chemistry shop - while these things are generlaly fine as other roles, they would not be as Synthetic. Of course, you already know that - we just expect the frontline aggressiveness to be toned down significantly when you’re a Synthetic.

With everything taken into account, this was a good application with enormous community & Synthetic support for you. Although observations were somewhat rocky, we believe you are certainly capable of living up to the standards of Synthetic, and we would like to see you fulfill that by joining us ingame.

Welcome to the USS Almayer, Hank!
