Synthetic Application - GregorySmash

What is your BYOND key?

GregorySmash

What is your Discord ID?

gregorysmash

Do you usually play a specific character? If so, who?

Brayan ‘Tulio’ Vargas for marine, NO-O for xeno, and Zahrath-Doh Xaef’ill for pred

What whitelist applications have you previously completed?

The important one is my accepted predator one so I will link that here GregorySmash - Yautja Application

Synthetic Info:

Name of the Synth Character you wish to play:

Gregory

What is your Synthetic’s Personality?

Gregory is meant to be comforting in times of distress and will seek out the weak link, they will do their best to protect and teach those who cannot help themselves and that is why in most scenarios they are either used in marine squadrons to ensure the weak keep up or a teacher.

How will they react to the different ranks of the USCM, what would they talk about in a one on one conversation? What are their interests? What is an advertisement logline that could be written for them?

Gregory has a dynamic way of interacting with ascending ranks, Gregory would treat lower ranks like privates and the such like friends and wont act like they’re any different from him. But as the ranks rise Gregory will start to show increased respect and act as if they are his superior so they will feel respected in a way they are used to.

If Gregory is to be in a conversation with anybody Gregory will start with a back and forth on whatever other person wishes to talk about but when the conversation starts to die down Gregory will bring it to music.

An advertisement logline: Gregory, Your teacher and friend!

Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you?

I love support roles, I love the roleplay that comes with being and synth and from helping people. And I love the capability to bounce between tasks of various natures so I don’t have to choose just one support role

What is your most memorable interaction with a synthetic?

a faint memory I have is when a synthetic lugged an MP across the ship during hijack to lifeboats and saved their life.

Synthetic Character Story:

Skills:

Engineering:

I consider myself to be quite fluent in most engineering tasks including but not limited to fortifying. Mainly it’s important to have doors near the walls so you can’t get cornered and blocked from entering. I can also easily repair comms and sensors, move an APC from one spot to another, and repair or replace anything that comes my way.

Command:

While I may not be tactically gifted I am still well versed in operating all the equipment in CIC Including: setting red alert, Calling evac, sending a distress signal, and monitoring and managing squads

Medical:

It is very rare to find a patient that I do not know how to fix. I can do all surgeries with competency and speed, I can simply glance at a health scanner and know what to give them, and I can stack surgeries to get multiple things fixed at once.

Requisitions:

Now REQ is pretty simple. I’m capable of preparing and launching crates both frontline and FOB, I know how to buy anything from the ASRS and I know most if not all the abbreviated terms used for equipment.

What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example.

Frontlines: When on the frontlines you are forbidden from attacking under any circumstances. Backline: Let’s say you’re with an IO team healing one of their guards when the IO gets pounced by a lurker and the lurker tries to capture them. In this case I see it fit to help save the IO and try to get them both back to a safer spot. Delta alert: You can fight as you see fit but you should not forget that your main objective is to help others.

Final Info:

Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason? Do you have any active jobbans?

No active job bans and no recent job bans

Are you currently banned from our Discord?

No

Let us know why you were discord banned.

Not banned on the discord

Do you have anything else you would like to include about your application?

If I happened to post this a day early I’m sorry as I am only now seeing 26-FEB-2025 and am unaware of the time zone that was posted in  Feb 26 2025: whoopsies made a small mistake and posted an out of date response for how my synthetic reacts to conversation and it references the music one, if you want a new one just ask  (I didn’t want to send another reply so I’m just editing this in) the advertisement log line is up to date

Hey, I’m a bit concerned about this application, not because you’ve done anything wrong, but instead because of the lack of right, I personally recognize your marine from very fleeting instances as PFC but can’t recall any notable moments with you in a support role.

Firstly, I find your synthetic concept to be frail, I don’t see anything that stands out from what every synthetic already does, and your story does not expand on their personality via speech either, while I’m not asking you to reinvent the wheel when it comes to your character concept, I do think it needs more thought put into it, which also ties closely with my second point.

Synthetics applicants should in one way or another bring value to the whitelist, this can be achieved by being memorable, creating an interesting synthetic that garners interest in it, or just having other solid characters that vouch for your ability to RP, I want to be convinced you’re capable of this.

this, in my opinion, is the type of application where community support will factor in greatly, that is why I want to ask the following questions.

  • Considering what I said above, what would you do to be memorable as a synthetic? and have you applied them to your other characters? if so, how has that worked out for you?
  • You’re groundside and the average round is developing, you see many marines, survivors and xenos come and go but nobody really seems interested in talking to you, what’s next?

Hope this is good

I personally have a consistent bit of cosmetics which helps, and I also wave to a lot of people when I can, especially after putting this application up. Also I gave my character a nickname so it’s easier to remember.

You’re groundside and the average round is developing, you see many marines, survivors and xenos come and go but nobody really seems interested in talking to you, what’s next?

Unless I’m actively doing something important or about to be doing something, then I would choose to go back to FOB and see if there is anybody there who is interested, and if nobody there wants to RP then I’ll head shipside and RP with the doctors.

That’s fair, but it’s also what I would call the very baseline RP effort, what I mean is that I want to see interactions that make people go “that was cool”, phrased differently it’d be a recurrent interest to make rounds interesting, even if it’s for just one person.

That’s perfectly fine as an answer but it feels insipid from a character point of few, we don’t expect your synthetic to act like a fool to get attention, but they should have interests or at least a way to initiate conversations that differentiates them from the rest of the whitelist. Feel free to expand on that second question again if you want to.

My point being, that I want to ensure your synthetic feels thought out and has a potential to shine.

Okay, so I’ve decided to relook at both of them since I feel I have answered them adequately.

For the first question I feel it is answered better if I frame it like I am playing as my synthetic character. Notably every PVT who is open to RP I would take the opportunity to ensure they survive and at the same time try to teach them, though this would not stop me from taking care of my other duties, I would just have to do it then return to my selected PVT. If there are no privates and nothing to do I would wander about chatting to people and doing menial tasks. Additionally if there are no new players, I would head to fob or comms and chat up anybody there. The main difference I will try to bring is that I’m going to try and talk rather than run around doing all the things they can do besides socialising like I see so many synths today. I don’t want to be just another synth running around who seemingly looks way too busy to hang out with.

For the second question I would like to note that I was answering it like my objective was to find people to talk to, so that affected how I would actually respond to it. If nobody seems open to talking to me in the backlines which is where I presume I am, I would go to comms or FOB unless I’m doing something which would make it harmful to do so, at which point I’ll see if anybody there is interested in RP. If they’re not I would head to the front and heal people and search for any PVT’s. If there is
literally nobody groundside who wants to RP then I would continue on with my duties until somebody
shows up who seems open to it.

I hope these answers are better

Thank you for answering, a few thoughts.

I would just have to do it then return to my selected PVT.

This type of mentality is something I always endorse, not because of them being a PVT, but instead trying to choose someone who can match your energy and trying to keep tabs on them during a round, hopefully making it memorable for both of you, which doesn’t extend to synthetics only either.

I don’t want to be just another synth running around who seemingly looks way too busy to hang out with.

Good, it’s a sad reality that the whitelist is moving to change.

Regarding your last point, I also think there’s always someone willing to RP, even if it can take a lot of initiative / effort to find them. I’m sure the council would like to see those words turned into actions the duration this application is up. Especially when it comes to interacting with others as a support role.

Hello, the synth council and I have voted and unfortunately this application has been Denied.

The council believes that this application is a good start, but not quite there yet. The personality is definitely something that needs to be looked at and improved, it is quite basic. The story was okay, no major red flags but also needs work. Your question answers were okay.

We would recommend trying again at a later date, we see potential here. You can seek help in the WL-app-help channel in the discord. You may reapply in 30 days.
