What is your Synthetic’s Personality?

The Gunter line of synthetics represents the pinnacle of Weyland-Yutani technology. These units are currently in limited pre-release, and not yet in general circulation, we can let you the general public in on what we know. These units have been meticulously crafted to serve high-stakes military environments, blending 1890s gentlemanly manners with cutting-edge technological efficiency. Speaking of Gunter has been programed to have a great sense of formality, politeness, and an unwavering respect for hierarchy and decorum. Always using titles with high ranking officials, directors, and military officers, if not “mister” or “missus” followed by their surname when referring to those of lower rank. His posture is always upright, reflecting a disciplined and proper demeanor, and he adheres strictly to social etiquette, ensuring that interactions are always conducted with the utmost respect and propriety.

Behind closed doors they have been involved weapons research and advanced medical procedures, particularly in settings where high precision and expertise are paramount. Gunter’s interest in weapon development is driven by analytical approach to their design and functionality. Through his programming weapons aren’t just tools, but intricate pieces of engineering that reflect the technological advancements of their time. Gunter is fascinated by the historical significance, and evolution of weaponry. His focus is not on the destructive power of weapons, but rather on their role as artifacts of human ingenuity.

Despite their interests in weapons research he knows how destructive they are. This is why he he approaches medical issues with the same meticulousness he applies to his studies of weapons, focusing on precision, accuracy, and the underlying principles of anatomy and physiology. His specific fascination is in biology. He is interested in how the human body works, how it refuses to give up. This is shown through his fascination chemistry, surgical treatment, and researching how medical innovations can enhance patient care.

As Gunter enters his final mass productions stages the military, government, and Weyland-Yutani are hoping Gunter’s capabilities will be able to support broader operations aboard vessels like the USS Almayer, general hospitals, and other offices outside of the Weyland-Yutani home office.

How will they react to the different ranks of the USCM, what would they talk about in a one on one conversation? What are their interests? What is an advertisement logline that could be written for them?

“Gunter is the latest in synthetic advancements, offering precision and efficiency with an unwavering dedication to your mission. Engineered with a meticulous focus on detail, Gunter ensures every task is executed to perfection, whether in the medical bay, research lab, or on the battlefield.” As seen in a W-Y synth magazine

Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you?

For a long time I just thought that Synths were cool and it would be fun to be one. Now that I have played the game for a while longer I have respect for what synth players do as a whole. The time and dedication it takes to build a story, and then stick to character. Plus they seem to add to the fun and almost never take away. Based off of the interactions I have had they are always willing to help out, they know their stuff. They help marines get things done. They truly are the multitool of the game.

So based of the fun times that I have had with several synths especially those listed below I would like to add, help, and enhance the player experience through RP, medical help, and going wherever I am needed in order to help with the USCM success as a Synth.

What is your most memorable interaction with a synthetic?

This is from a redacted report from the Weyland-Yutani home office:
Director Crossman sent me me, with Dean to talk to a CLF operative to strike a deal to get a [Redacted]. Dean came into my office on the USS after receiving a fax from Director Crossman. From there we discussed how to go about getting the CLF member out of the brig and down onto the planet again. After choosing our actions carefully we made our way to the back way of brig where Dean made sure the coast was clear. After breaking in we talked and made a deal with the CLF member of interest and managed to get out of the brig with him without raising any alarms. I attribute most of this to Dean. From there we managed to get down to our colony on New Varadero. After a bit of hike we managed to make it to [Redacted] on the East side of the colony. After searching for [Redacted] Dean said that he had found it and gave it to me. I then stowed it away on my person. From there we parted ways with the CLF especially after Dean informed me that his motion detector was starting to pick up pings. With danger starting to come toward us we managed to make our way back and report back to the director we had succeeded in our mission. Only to find out that he wanted us to go back out and [Redacted] the CLF member. By this time it was too late the [redacted] had made their way onto the dropship and were piloting it right into my escort ship. Thankfully Whiteguard Solutions was dispatched to pick me and Dean up. That was something that kept me on the edge of my seat when I was roaming the colony and making our way back and getting off the ship. Please make sure Dean is rewarded accordingly

Synthetic Character Story:

Skills:

Engineering:

I will admit this is my weakest area of all four. That being said I am more than confident in my abilities to turn on the power, get communication operational, and the sensor tower up and running. Building FOB is by far my favorite part of this area and I would like to think I am pretty good at it despite not being in bravo squad for a while.

Command:

I know how to get things going. I have played SO, ASO enough to know their duties. I have played XO enough and am thankful to the corps for giving me thus far a 100% victory rate. Just ignore that I only take XO a handful of times. However I have been caught as the CMO on a few occasions as well and have had to run an operation and even give it my own twist of it being a humanitarian aid brief. From there I make sure someone is setting up FOB, communications get established, a supply drop gets down there and hopefully continues to be sent down. However like most on here it is then hard to control the squads from doing what you want as they are cats and you can’t really herd them. That being said I do my best to feed them information, remind them of orders, and allow the squads to do what they do.

Medical:

This is by far the best area for me. Thus why I included it in my story for Gunter. The medical field for me is by far the most fun and the RP that I can fit in is the most fun for me. I can preform any surgery any medical procedure, or make any chem.

Requisitions:

I remember back in the olden days of charger barrels and no search menu to look up what marines want to get stuff out more efficiently. That being said this is such an easy job. Give marines what they want when you can and within reason, make sure materials to build the FOB, and ammo is continuously sent down and prep a front line supply drop as needed. Stamp every paper that comes up as approved by the QM as to make some of the budget back. Make sure ARES isn’t hacked as the fun police will only hamper any supply drops as they fix the computer, and arrest you. Not to down play this role because it is important to the game but this is one of the roles I play when I just wanna turn off my brain and be a busy bee for the round which is fun sometimes.

What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example.

As marines are engaged in combat I find that the best place for me to be would be right next to marines firing away dragging back their buddies or better yet helping their buddies directly. Providing medical aid would be the best place for me. After all being a little faster a little easier for the downed marines to get back up and going. This is especially important when I play in lower populated hours and there aren’t as many corpsman around.

During evacuations I should be packing things up allowing marines to continue up the engagement buying as much time as possible to get any supplies back to the USS Almayer. If there are no pilots around I should stay near the flight controls while working on any wounded marines to make sure that when command gives the order to launch that the dropship launches and saves all marines on the ground.

Marines are also often times prone running out of ammo, and material. This means I should be the one to go back and face the backline xenos as one I can’t be infected by huggers, while I can be pounced on I have a better chance of making it out and not being slowed down as much through blood loss, passing out, and being captured thus adding to the xeno’s numbers. That and it is much easier to self repair than to have to get up one or two marines who have been kocked out on their way back to the FOB, only to go back out and face the same danger.

In all these small scenarios I have show cased that the job of a synth is to serve. Serve by getting things packed up, serve by getting marines up, serve by making sure marines get what they need to make sure they have success.

Your inclusion of so many aggressively German scientists (definitely getting Argentinian grandparent vibes) in your story pleases me. It does certainly express Gunter’s interest in weapons development, and is clearly a meticulously edited and crafted story that showcases the effort you’ve put in.

I can’t really say much on personality quirks given in my experience they basically never come up in-game unless you specifically talk about topics a synth likes, but the quirk seems to not be one of those “talk in a certain way 24/7 that would never be possible in high-stress situations”, so it’s a decent quirk in my eyes.

In terms of player interaction, I do remember you as mostly a doctor main, and you gave me unga most of the time so it’s an automatic +1 and I’ve seen your proficiency in chemistry and surgery in stressful situations firsthand. I can’t say much on command, requisitions & engineering skills, but your medical performance is top notch. I can certainly vouch for Griff’s bedside manner roleplay, which is a rarity to see in CM and a delight when it happens. We need more synths who emote and talk mid-surgery, cardiac arrest be damned.

The main concern with your application in my opinion, is your combat scenario answers. You don’t actually seem to answer the question- I assume you misread it, given how you mostly talk about a synthetic’s role “in a live combat-warzone”, instead.
The question is to illustrate when a synthetic may perform combat, and to give specific examples of when, given it is tradition for synth WLers to be PRd by XX-Young-Spitter for violation of combat protocols every 2 microseconds.
Could you write your answer to the question in a reply?

I apologize, What I mean by all the scenarios given is that I would not be fighting and beating back the xenos with a stick as the marines go out and shoot things. No no no that isn’t my place. What I mean by those scenarios is that I would be dragging marines back from the front lines to where they can be given medical attention if they are down. Make sure medics are handling it first before I take up the call. After all I don’t want to take away from any corpsman fun.

When it comes to evacuations from the planet I would be packing up any and all useable supplies unless asked to preform other tasks or help with medical if it is really bad. Make sure I can get any and all marines onto the ship before it takes off. As mentioned if there is no pilot around I would launch the Alamo if needed to either follow the self preservation, or because command ordered it.

When it comes to supplies I am not going to look for a fight. I find that would be distracting and a waste of time. I should be focusing on getting all the supplies from FOB to the front line whatever I can carry. If I get distracted by fights, or something else then that means the marines would be slaughtered do to a lack of ammo or whatever else they would need making me a bad synth unit. I should be focusing on making sure marines can do their best. With that in mind if I happen to find a marine on my way back being pounced on and abused I would obviously go in and help. Probably take out a baton and start beating on the xeno until they ran away or died. That way I can get the marine up or drag/carry him back to the FOB so they could get medical attention. I would not chase the xeno if they were to run to the ends of the earth. I would make sure the marine is still near me (still have eye contact with him at the most and in extreme circumstances. If not I would closer). After getting the marine some help I would continue on with my orders so the marines could be at their best, which is the whole point.

I hope this answers any question thoroughly.

Great roleplayer as CL from what i remember. +1

idk much about you but,
Tone down the fascination aspect of your synth towards weapons, I think it tip toes a little too much into human emotions (this is kind of ironic because my synth is literally an UA propaganda machine) but yeah you seem interested on being a synth but a heads up you shouldnt fight unless you are protecting others or yourself, if you put yourself in danger you are likely to get reported so yeah
+1 anyways gl

So far, nobody on the council has been able to get an observation of you in. Could you perhaps tell us a bit more about when you play so we have an easier time catching you on?

Alternatively, you can try to notify myself or other councilors of set times when you’re planning to play so we can make sure to see you.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again; I’ve known Griff for a decently long time on this server. He’s a great person to talk to and a great roleplayer. I’ve seen his performance as CL, and he has never failed to impress me with how well he can stick to his character despite all hell breaking loose around him.

I’ve also gotten the chance to see his performance as a doctor in the last few rounds I’ve played with him. He’s has all the medical knowledge a synth’ll need and then some, he’s always looking for ways to lend a helping hand (as Synths should), and can handle himself well even as the MedBay gets filled with dozens of late hugged patients all at once.

For anything else, I don’t believe I’m qualified to judge him on. But just off of these two things alone, I’d say Griff is more than qualified to become a synthetic.

TL;DR, +1. This man knows and does his medical and RP well beyond what’s expected of him as a a synthetic already.

I’m an idiot and forgot to reply to your clarification, but +1 lmao

Griff has been around for a long time and from what I’ve seen he’s competent in every role that he plays. Easy +1 for me, looking forward to seeing Gunter helping to save the corps in the future!

Hi Griff52, thanks for your interest in the Synthetic Whitelist!

I’m going to start by quickly going over your quirk and story: It’s unique with the basis of it being in technological weapons & medicine, but how this was executed in your story could have been done better.
Your story is great by the way, really nice plot and its entertaining. But the quirk dialogue is sometimes poorly illustrated. For example, the bit about medicine was offputting to some members of the council because it was a lot of out-of-scope dialogue on the scale of CM; that’s not to put shade on your quirk, rather that it just wouldn’t be relevant in a regular CM game. In the case that it was a storytelling element, it is not exactly correct either. Essentially, it’s better to keep things at the same magnitude of detail without delving too far; as the more detailed you get, the higher the chance of inaccuracies you have - and a Synthetic with an expertise in medicine should not have any! Just remember, a significant amount of the dialogue should showcase how Gunter will interact during round to round interactions; but feel free to leave in some wordy HRP-esque segments - those happen too
For your quirk and story(mainly the quirk), consider making a small simplification to consolidate Gunter’s technological prowess. This section needs only a minor refine.

Excellent memorable interaction with Dean! That’s a great story.

For your skills self assessment: Good amount of detail and good work with your honesty. You elaborated well on these.

Your combat scenarios talked about what your synth does to support in combat. But the question here is What scenarios can your Synthetic perform combat in?. For this section, I would recommend you have a look at Synthetic Programming and create some scenarios in your head for various situations under different circumstances. For example: “If I’m on the frontline and a lurker…” “On the almayer during delta alert I come across…” etc. When can you engage in combat within programming? - I recommend you redo this entire section!

There’s a healthy amount of support for your RP and story.
But besides the combat section, the other significant issues we found occured during our observations of your gameplay.

As you stated, engineering may have been one of your areas which you could improve upon greatly. I think that although the technical aspect may be better now, the fundamentals of barricades still is not up to our standard.

During a particular round, you were on the FOB/Comms with a CE. Although the CE themselves made mistakes, it is the duty of a comtech (and especially a Synthetic) to fix any holes at all which could be of detriment to the Marines - furthermore, to improve barricades and make them equally safe locations and formidable fighting positions.

A hole in the side of the window allows xenomorphs to immediately enter the LZ. - red
image

The tunnel entrance is completely uncaded. A xenomorph tunnel or incursion would immediately jeopardize the LZ. - red
A hole in the window allows a xenomorph to immediately gain entry into the barricade line and the communications unit. - red
The thin barricade line is generally a misusage of materials (looks cool, good for traversing, but inefficient against any serious assault) - it lacks depth and a single breach will collapse the entire line. There is no room for manuevering. Firing lines are restricted based on the enemy approach - it would be smarter to build it at a chokepoint with better angles. - blue

Because of these observations and your combat answer, we feel that you need time to improve on your engineering fundamentals with barricade theory. That’s why we are going to be unfortunately denying this application(you’ll be free to reapply starting 10/21/24). My recommendations on this would be to play FOB Engineer more, and also check otehrs barricade lines to see how they could be improved. Having better map knowledge could help you in this endeavor, so its worth surveying an area before setting up shop.

Of lesser importance, there were some times when you were conducting surgery and did some unnecessary steps - such as hacking open a ribcage which was already fractured.

Overall, we took a lot of time to oversee this application because you have a lot of strong points. We’d love to see you succeed, and we are rooting for you! Remember that my councilors and the WL app help are there for you to ask questions and second opinions. I wish you the best of luck and we hope to see you back again soon!
