Server Relays

Hi!

Following in the footsteps of other SS13 servers that don’t have the luxury of being split across multiple contintents, we’ve also got some server relays. These take your connection, route them over our server provider’s internal network (theory being that they route faster internally than your connection would do over the public internet), and connect you right to our server.

You can view the fastest relay to you in game - just click on your ping in the chat box.

Clicking on the relay will then reconnect you to the server via that relay.

Europe

North America

Asia-Pacific

All traffic travels to our server, located in Beauharnois, Quebec (that’s the orange arrow, on the map). Depending on the distance between you, the relay you are connecting to, and Quebec, and various other factors impacting internet routing, it may be faster for you to connect directly to the server, than using a relay.

Thanks!

EDIT:
Added a new one.

EDIT EDIT:
this is back again, after it went away for a bit

In this case though, it’s probably accurate that NZ isn’t included in Asia-Pacific. As I get significantly better ping via Virginia than Singapore or Australia (I get about 95-100ms to Virginia).

Tip’s for New Zealanders

For any New Zealand folks, note that you might well get better ping to the US directly than via Australia, due to NZ having significantly better backbone connections to the US than Australia does.

This can apply with many things even including steam’s CDNs. At work we often set out steam CDN to LA or Seattle, but this mostly because replication takes some time when we push game updates.
