Why do you wish to become a Fax Responder?
The main reason is that I do love the Aliens Lore and the way it’s implemented into CM. I did spend a considerable amount of time playing roles like CL or CE. You can infact write maintenance papers as CE to kill time. It was all about the immersion for me. When I play a normal round I did know most of the faxes were not noticed but to say the least most of my memorable rounds were because of the said faxes. I want more people to know the joy of these roles like CL.
I myself think that it’s mostly about the persons imagination that can make these roles shine and It’s mostly correct. You can do lots of stuff without asking like putting a bounty board for something, giving advice about the research expenses and how to handle them, writing a thesis on how drinking water is good. To sum it up I like the potential of the role, someone actively seeking to answer your faxes is a great thing for the round and the senders immersion.
Gone are the days of waiting for a fax response about the marines that are currently breaching your office!
What do you consider the purpose of this role?
I think the roles main purpose is to not break the immersion of the round. Most of the rounds in CM are fast paced and the shipside roles are often interrupted by the sheer amount of time that is required to receive a fax from the probably busy admins. A role that is dedicated to write faxes to a certain faction really hastens things up. Like I said at the above CL does not really need fax responses to function but certain roles do need it like MP’s. You can create certain role scenarios for yourself even if no one responds to your faxes but It’s just good to have someone replying back to your regular round start report about the colony distress to make the sender feel like they are a part of a bigger picture.
When would you consider it appropriate to use your phone?
An appropriate time would be is an emergency situation like if someone actively bombed the CL office and CL is sending multiple emergency faxes about the matter could require a call. I myself do think that using the phone is a last resort thing for some reason like “phone lines” are expensive and faxes are cheap, same reason for the comms.
Another reason is a highly unlikely scenario but if the fax machines at their disposal are somehow destroyed. I would have to make a call.
Another reason may be the admin that is currently doing an event requests a call.
If playing WY Responder, what objectives do you consider within your power to give the CL?
I can already imagine so many objectives for CL. On a normal round CL’s are usually lack direction about what to do other than the general idea of a company.
If at the round start CL faxed about the XX-121 presence on the colony the objective I would give would change according to the map because of certain item spawns.
For instance if it’s on Chances Claim I would ask CL to somehow get a marine to retrieve the company gold deposit that is inside the Colony Managers office or a certain device…
Some objectives about the colony that I currently have in mind are retrieving the black box, the colony manager’s body and ID, retrieving the nuke disk on Solaris, retrieving certain personal documents inside the director offices like the one at Solaris which admits the ones responsible are infact WY.
Now for objectives regarding Almayer, I could ask CL to send the current crew manifest and a report about the commands actions, advertising the new WY Spring Waters to the Almayer, presenting the CMO with a personal consultant contract for research, asking research for a copy of the scanned chems, making CL hold a meeting with the CE/CMO about how great the company is etc.
If playing Press Responder, what objectives do you consider within your power to give the CC?
Playing press responder would be a really different experience from the other ones because you are basically J. Jonah Jameson from a certain movie.
Objectives for the round start could be recording the briefing and taking a photo of the person giving said briefing.
Doing an interview with the Mess Tech about the scar that they have and listening to a different story everytime.
Having a chat with the marines and asking how are things going for them at Neroid.
Asking CMO questions about the rumours of a miracle medicine being discovered at Almayer.(Research)
Tailing the CL and asking questions about the colony and the likelihood of this being an incident connected to them.
Having an interview with the CMP about work safety and how to handle work hazards.
If It’s a normal round I would probably ask about the cause of the incident and some photos of the said creatures if the CC reported any.

Interviewing the colonists about what happened there before they reach CL,
Asking marines tips about surviving at the frontier,
Asking the CC name the xenos themselves instead of using names like Crusher etc. for public attention for example a ravager could be a Red Marauder.
If the CC is a military reporter I could ask photos for the next issue of the boots magazine maybe?
A recorded explanation of the operation from the XO and how they’ll surely handle the situation cleanly.
Photos of mass casualties of marines to shock the public if the reporter is a civillian.
Most of the objectives that can be given to the Civillian press has to make sense for a civillian like you can’t ask the CC to barge into CIC with a camera and get arrested same goes for the Military Reporter. You can’t ask demoralising photos because why would the USCM want that?
